I bought a Huffy Panama Jack 500w fat tire beach cruiser last year at this time for ~$350. Its been fine with weekly use riding over grass and roads. I do tighten everything down every few weeks, but I do that on my nonelectric $1200 Specialized as well...
Do I realize it's bottom level Shimano parts and off brand electronics, sure. But I don't ride a beach cruiser in the mountains, the battery is UL listed, it's got disc breaks, and after a year of use the gears still operate fine with no re-tuning.
Win in my book and $350 well spent.
