My two cents. Don't get this. You'll be exhausted from just changing plates on the dumbbell's in between sets. Save up and get a proper dumbbells and Olympic weights. Pound per pound will be a better investment over time, trust me.
It's a crime to make and sell this junk. You want Olympic weight plates and barbell with a 2-inch hole, not this 1-inch garbage.

From some of the reviews it sounds like they're plastic filled with something like sand.

So this is just proprietary weights instead of standard or olympic plates?

Just chiming in to agree with everyone. I wouldn't buy these. I feel like ~$200-$250 can get you like 225-300lbs in Olympic weights with a bar. They will hold their value, and last a long time.

I'm super happy with my 300lb balance from Olympic cast iron weights I got for $199 last year. I have cement weights from years ago and they are bulky and limit the max weight you can add and they are fragile. looks there's not an upgrade path with this set.
