Open-box ROG Ally is about the same price at Best Buy. I wasn't a fan of the Deck's materials quality, size, or (especially) the LCD screen. Now that Bazzite is being developed for the Ally, I'd almost argue it's the better investment at this point in the game.

That said, the Deck does have a massive and active community, so any problem you have will be documented somewhere else. Valve also partneredwith iFixIt and repair parts are readily available.
And then when the 2 comes out, you'll say something else is weak and how you can't wait for the 3. Repeat.
Support is key, otherwise it just turns into a paperweight over time.

The base Z1 is, but the Z1 Extreme, which I was referring to in my initial comment, is not weaker.
except the Z1E open box at BEST BUY starts at $420... so it is disingenuous to compare it to this deal

$420 is for Excellent; they had Good and Fair units in stock earlier in the week for $353 and $327, respectively. In my experience, Good has largely been close to "like new" condition.

The steam deck is more powerful than the rog ally non extreme. The open box for the z1 extreme is never cheaper than this steam deck. I think only the rog ally x got their sd card fixed.

Sam's club has the Rog Ally for like $379, but after reading about issues like overheating, loud fans, button issues, and the sd card slot breaking, I think I'm going with the Legion Go, mostly due to the big screen. The Ally X looks tempting and like it's fixed a lot of issues, but I just can't see paying $700 (not sure I'd even use it much).
There's three models of the rog ally, and the model that people here are stating that's cheaper than the steam deck is the z1 non extreme. It's CPU and GPU is less powerful than the steam deck. I wouldn't get it over an LCD steam deck.

it doesn't matter what is the condition if 420 is the only one available

which is still a compelling option against a base cheaper STEAMDECK but it's not the same price

Except it does matter because the "um, actually" you're trying to pull is lacking context. My original comment remains correct based on the time it was written.

Only the GPU is weaker, the CPU is WAY stronger in the base Rog ally. That's why it destroys the Deck in CPU limited games. If you watch benchmarks on YouTube you can see all the newer games where the CPU is holding the GPU back in the Deck.

337.00 it is a bargain for the top tier that costed 649.00 at launch.
