I first got online in the mid 90s and I remember being told to wait for the Nvidia Riva TNT to come out as it would make the price of the Riva 128 to drop. Like yeah people, we know how technology works, this is eternally true. If I followed that advice I'd still be waiting to buy my first GPU.
Not really true if Nvidia sticks with their current way of pricing on the next gen. This is still mid-range performance wise and AMD doesn't have much competition in this range. The 4070 super or the 4070ti still demand a higher price etc etc.

A small note to those interested xfx seems to have horrid coil wine this and last gen for what it's worth compared to other brands. ymmv I won't use these again for customers builds way too many complaints.
Hypothetically, I can think of a particular rock that will also hypothetically add tariffs in January 2025 that will do the opposite

Maybe drop like 10%....The 50 series will cost more than the msrp of the 40 series. I am guessing you will only see 20% improvement over the 40 series and paying 20% premium over the 40 series as well.

I'm honestly more interested to see if Battlemage can shake up the mid range.

Very difficult buy when you can get 4070 for $500. I know I know "it's slower" etc but still.
Would not get a 4070 over this not even a super.

Ordered the 7800 xt deal from Amazon for $420 the other day but is this worth a $100 more for 1440p with a 5600x build?

The BO6 benchmark shows that my 5600 creates a 99% bottleneck for the 7900 GRE, so the 7800 XT seems like a more balanced match for the 5600X.

I was considering upgrading to the 5700X3D, but the 7800X3D might be a better pairing overall.

These results were at 1080p just an FYI, if you run 1440 or 4k, it'll take less processing power and would probably pair fine.

Yes would be 1440p replacing a 3060ti. Have the 5600x and 32 gb of 3200 for a few years. Figured hang onto it for a bit longer before changing cpu. Maybe not I don't know
