For Crossfire. Not diamondback.

Diamondback is worth the extra $36

In general I think 8x are a better fit for most people since what you gain in a larger object you generally lose due to additional bounce when handheld. You also generally lose a pretty big chunk of field-of-view so it's harder to locate some targets. With that caveat, I'll say that this is a great deal. The Diamondback is right in the sweet spot where you get very good optics before the price starts jumping up for diminishing returns.

Obviously a fair bit pricier, but Cabela's/Bass Pro has the Vortex Viper 10x42 binoculars for $300. They are the next tier up in quality from the Diamondback. Both are good, but trying then out instore I was surprised to be able to tell a significant difference and opted for the Vipers.

I have a couple Vortex binos, both the Diamondback and Viper, and tried many other brands before landing on those. There is a slight difference in that the Viper is better in dawn/dusk for those few low light hours, but not SUPER noticeable unless you really study them side by side. So, this is a GREAT deal for anyone looking for a new set. NOTE: for anyone thinking this looks like a lot of money when you can buy sub $100 binos, I can gaurantee you since I've owned plenty of budget pairs, they stink compared to this. The difference and feel is SO much more noticeable, and mind you these are still considered 'budget' binos in the grand scheme of things, but for everyday viewing they're amazing. I havent tried this 10x42 myself as I prefer my other configurations for field of view and eye relief....and my hands arent super stable.

Thank you! Looking at stars, planets and nebulas are exactly the main purpose I want these. Figure $136 for a pair of quality optics binoculars makes much sense than a $1,000 on a telescope that might just end up collecting dust. Atleast with the bino's I can look at the stars.. and also use them for other things like sporting events, hiking and touring.
I have the Vipers and I also have several expensive telescopes. If you use a tripod, you can see many deep sky objects, but you are limited by aperture size. You'd be better off with a telescope of at least 8" or the new smart telescope Seestar s50, which is fantastic. Even a Dwarf 3 would be a massive upgrade over binoculars for astronomy.

Would these work for birding or is 10X on the high side for stability?

Whats the price on those things though? $500 vs $136 for the binos? I've always wanted an 8" or 10" Dobsonian telescope but those things are massive so it is the price. I still like the idea of starting off with a pair of quality binoculars and then buying the more expensive astronomy equipment if I decide I want to dig deeper down that rabbit hole.

So, I bought these.

I'm not super impressed, TBH. Or maybe my expectations were wrong.

Using my $20 Amazon Aurosports 10x25 binoculars for comparison, the image quality is only slightly better and ability to see something more zoomed in or something further away is also inly slightly better.

I guess I shouldn't have expected 6x the quality ($20 vs $130), but was expecting better. Albeit, perhaps I didn't buy the right magnification or something.

On fence with keeping them or not. They are definitely better, but not sure the value is there as I only use them to peak out my windows and look at the wildlife every so often.

Found at Scheels for $129. Is OPMOD just the color is different?

Scheels version is the non HD with inferior glass I believe.
