My mommy always said there were no monsters - no real ones - but there are.
I just recently got this from the library to read with my daughter. Other then excising any explicit gore, it actually does explain most of main plot points from the movie ("uh oh, Kane has a tummy ache!" and so on).
For everyone freaking out about this, I've actually read this with my kid. It's totally kid friendly while generally following the story of the first Alien film. And it teaches the alphabet. So relax.

When I was a little kid my dad (who loves the Alien movies) would tell me the storyline to the first Alien movie, probably because he thought it was so interesting. I remember being really fascinated by it. Of course he never actually let me watch it until much later, in my late teens. So now I am a huge fan too. I tell my kids a few elements from grown up movies that I find interesting even though they won't watch them for awhile. They'll be fine.

Did people get snippy? Oh well.

For the right audience, this looks funny.

I ordered 3 and chose super slow shipping and they gave me $3 in e credits. The items already shipped and will be here today. Effective price was $10 minus $3 e credits of digital items of effectively $7 for 3 books or $2.30 each.

Just imagine how short the Alien movie could have been, if they did a Marvel crossover, and Jonesy the cat was actually a flerken? BOOM! Scratch one alien!! Wink

They removed both sides, presumably because of the bickering. This book is NOT intended for adults and IS suitable for children. Read the actual book reviews and decide. Besides that, it is listed as suitable for children in multiple places where sold.

Just because it's based on an adult property doesn't mean it is automatically inappropriate for kids. If you look at the expected audience for the book, it's ages 2+
There are also similar children's books for Jaws and Jurassic Park, which are aimed at children and very much water down the approach to reach that audience.

I just used the $1.25 coupon. I also got a $5.00 promotional credit, so it was FREE plus some money back. I have no idea why.
So I went on my PC and now see the discount. Weird; because I was looking it through my app and only got the 0.51 discount. I wonder if it's a browser vs app thing.

I didn't get the $5 promo code though, that would have been cool to have; I wonder if yours was exclusive to you or something.

There's a very reasonable advent calendar with a Nakatomi Plaza falling Hans Gruber. Even if you're not religious.... Nice to have around the house!

My parents would always usher me off to bed when Alien or the Thing came on and they'd watch it. Both movies are great, but the feeling of missing out made me want to see these movies so much more that when I was finally 13 and saw Alien, it was amazing. I of course had nightmares from it but absolutely loved every second.

Yea yea "cool story bro."

My son is 3 and loves this book. It's an ACTUAL Little Golden Book - like the legit ones we had as kids. There's nothing even remotely objectionable in it. It's the first thing that he's actually interested in learning the alphabet through!

I appreciated the story.
I saw Aliens and The Transformers:The Movie in theaters in 1986 (I was 6 and absolutely badgered my mom until she gave in), but Transformers was far more traumatic since they essentially killed every original character in a horrible way.
That theater was a symphony of crying children with bewildered parents.

It's okay though, we're all fine now..... mostly.
