This company is all over the place with inconsistency!

Went to do the deal for $10/$17 mentioned here, opened app and creates an account. In-App deal currently is less for Pro ($13 vs $17)
https://ibb.co/6wrPnZb

At same time, if you search to open website they are still promoting the Black Friday deal at $20.

Three different prices, all at same time.

In short, try creating a new account in the app for the most savings currently!
FYI on auto renewal (from website)
Our subscriptions are auto-renewable. To deactivate the automatic renewal you can cancel your subscription up to 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. The cancellation will be effective at the end of your current subscription cycle.
So... cancel immediately after signing up or anytime up to 2 days before subscription ends👍 you still have access after cancellation until year is up!
In case anyone is wondering about canceling the subscription immediately after signing up so that it doesn't auto-renew. I looked it up on their FAQ so you don't have to:

About Blinkist Auto-Renewals for Subscriptions

Does the subscription auto-renew?

Our subscriptions are auto-renewed after each billing period (yearly, monthly or quarterly, depending on the subscription you've chosen).

Please note, that if you cancel your subscription it will turn off the auto-renew and end with the current subscription cycle, not immediately.

-

Basically, it looks like you can cancel right away and still use it. To be extra safe, I'm gonna sign up with PayPal and cancel it from both PayPal's side and Blinkist. Seems like it'll be useful, but I wouldn't be able to stomach paying over $100 a year for this…

UPDATE:

I just did this and it worked. I canceled it right away from the PayPal auto payments side and still had access. I then canceled on Blinkist website and now it says my account is active with a subscription until Dec 4, 2025. It worked. Interestingly, when I attempted to cancel I got an immediate offer for 50% off next year's subscription. I declined the retention offer.

Also, apparently all subscribers get a free invite to bring a friend/family member and share the subscription. So this definitely sweetens the deal since I can share it with my spouse!

Will evaluate one year of service before making any claims that it is worth it!

Beware of their yearly renewal dates, was charged without any notice and yet to hear back from Blinksit support team to cancel.
I had the same situation. Bought the Black Friday deal last year and forgot to cancel, so they charged me $99 last week with no emails or notice. So the moral is cancel immediately after getting the bargain because there's no reminders next year.

Also signed up $13 pro from the app.Cancel right away works. The subscription payment is managed on google play store, as long as you see it cancelled on Play store. Nothing to worry about renewal charge.
I posted this info yesterday but been ignored in favor posts for virtual cards etc to avoid renewal charge! It's easier to just cancel right away, poof! no future charge issue!

You don't need to create a new Blinkist account for the $13.99 secret deal. I logged in with my previous account on the app which was on the free tier and it offered it as a pop up. But I chose to not do the upgrade at first and then couldn't find it again anywhere.

Then I decided to delete the app and reinstall from AppStore and relog in and the secret $13.99 deal showed up as a pop up again.

So if you don't see it just delete the app and redownload it

I did Blinkist for a year. I felt like I was getting just the most basic, superficial impressions of books without actually learning anything. Certainly not learning anything deeply enough for it to make any impact on my life.
It did leave me hungry to go read (listen to) actual books, so that was a positive.

Had an old account and the app still on my phone. Logged in and got offered the 90% off pro deal, $13. Reviews seem like overall the summary is very surface level however $13 for a year isn't bad for me to figure out if it's worth diving deeper into a book or subject. At the end I'll figure out if it's worth getting another year.

Thanks OP! I liked the app when I tried it earlier but the subscription cost was too high. It makes lot of sense to try for a year for 10 bucks!

Use it for getting high level ideas and for deep dives on anything in the world, there is always chatGPT 👍

I use Blinkist to help determine if I want to read a book. If I like the summary on Blinkist, I'll commit to the book. I've read the Blink and the full book for enough titles now that I realize the Blink is almost entirely worthless for actually learning anything about the subject, but it's great for helping determine if I will find a book interesting so I subscribe for that purpose.

go to your local library and you can probly get hoopla for free. Copy paste parts of books in chat gpt. Avoid the yearly auto renew scam. Basically the same thing without the nonsense, little extra work.
