If you don't need a color printer, just get a laser printer under $100. it's 1,000 times better, cost per page it's just a penny.

I don't think you can get laser all in one for $100?

This printer is a steal at this price. This is an Ecotank so the cost per page is a lot lower than ink cartridge printers. I bought refurbished from Amazon a year ago and it was indistinguishable from new.

We went from laser to this printer. Laser is not 1000 times better for black and white... Maybe it is a little better if you are looking at your printouts with a magnifying glass.

Not really. Ecotank printer is cheaper per page by a mile using 3rd party ink refill. Let alone it's colored and the printer is cheaper..

Link me a 100 laser printer.

The advantage of a laser printer over an inkjet is not only cost per page but, if you do not print with an inkjet things can get clogged and then you need to buy a new printer. So if you don't print too often, a laser will not only save you on cost per page but, save you from buying a new printer every time it gets clogged. The alternative is leaving your inkjet on so it can waste ink purging it every now and then so it doesn't get clogged. At that point you are wasting both ink and electricity without even printing anything. The only advantage I can find for an inkjet is if you print photos on photo paper at home.

Edit: Or apparently dye sublimation which I just found about which is pretty cool and this seems like a cheap way to get into it though it seems like you need to somehow purge the old ink with sublimation ink which is fine when new by just never using actual ink but, not sure what the case is with refurbished.

I bought a large monitor from Staples during their anniversary sale in March when they were giving out so many extra reward points and got $77 in points. Used those reward points to get an Epson 2800 for way cheaper than I could find it anywhere (for sublimation, like someone mentioned above). Got another $77 in rewards points and used that to buy refill ink, a 3 pack (CMY) + a large bottle of black for $23 for my Epson 5180, which uses pigment ink so not the same as the ink that came with the 2800 that I couldn't use due to converting it for sublimation.

If you play the game right and are cognizant of the expirations of the points, you can come out ahead.

Photos. Lasers can't do photos.

Scan and Print DPI is often less as well.

I question those costs too. These tankers are 1/3 a penny a page even buying official ink, less than any of the laser printers I considered.

We had a lot of issues with the print quality of ours at first, running through the diagnostics and the fixes that are built into the printer made it look a lot better, but we had to go through each of them a couple of times.

Just in case anyone else has bad low quality prints.

The reviews from people who bought this printer are very harsh that the printer is giving all kinds of problems. I'm interested to get this though.

I don't know how old those reviews are, but Epson issued a firmware update sometime in 2024 that fixed a lot of issues. I no longer get the clogged ink and missing lines. Even when I don't use my printer for a very long time, the first print is still perfect. However, now the printer does clean itself once a day, usually in the middle of the night. If your printer is not in your bedroom, it should be alright.
