This is a great pencil. I've used it for many years and absolutely love it! I've thumbs down this post because this is not a good price. I've purchased all of mine on Amazon and I don't think I've every paid this much, just bought one recently, no BF or prime sale and it was under $10. The only problem I've had with it is that when I've dropped it, it sometime no longer worked, treat it gently.
Isn't pencil is available for $7.xx?

I love writing with these Pentel mechanical pencils, but I can't get them to last.
I pocket my pencil when I leave the office, and they always break at the plastic barrel where the grip meets the body of the pencil. Its a common failure, and I send them back to Pentel for repair. That costs time and shipping payment... Short review: great to write with, but fragile.

These are decent pencils, but I'd personally spend another $9 and get a Rotring 600.

I'm no pencil aficionado, but I've used both, too, and prefer the GG1000. I just think it's more comfortable, looks nicer, and the retracting tip is a really nice feature. I've ruined a good number of junky mechanical pencils by throwing them in a pocket or bag and bending/breaking the tips.
Then again, that's another mechanical part that can fail, but I've never broken one. That's probably because I lose one every year, so none of them get many miles on em!

Yeah, if it weren't quite a bit more expensive I would have recommended the Rotring 800 due to the retractable tip.

It's funny because I like Rotring for the same reasons you like GG1000; looks, feel, build quality. I always find it interesting how varied folks opinions are.

I totally agree - it's all very subjective. I like angular, more geometric designs in almost everything else, but then gravitate towards smoother curves for pen/pencils. And it's terribly balanced for pen spinning!

This looks like a common price in 3x camel, although it is on the low side. It drops to $10 or less infrequently though.

Same problem, used the same graphgear 1k from high school and throughout college. That barrel broke so many times. I have a spare that I used for parts and would send to pentel for replacement. Definitely my favorite pencil to write with and carry despite everything

I've been using the PG1005 since high school and have dropped it numerous times and it's still working perfectly.

I bought a few of the 800 and 600 pencils during the Amazon sale years ago. I am still using my black 0.5mm 600 for most of my pattern drafting (and some portrait drawings)....I have since sold most of them off because I never touched them but still have a 800 for back up. The 600, I just have a black cap to protect the tip.

Absolutely love this pencil, but at 34 this should be at least a 5 pack. You can get em on sale for 5, but under 10 all day.
