  • This deal works out to $15 per month. A nice offer since Mint Mobile typically only offers this sort of promotional pricing on shorter duration plans.
  • Please see the original post for additional details & give the WIKI and additional forum comments a read for helpful discussion.

I had Mint for one year until about 6 months ago. Two things made me switch to US Mobile: data prioritization and extra fees significantly increasing the price at renewal.

Data prioritization: I live in a semi-rural area, so the vast majority of the time this wasn't an issue. However, occasionally on weekends when people were home my phone data would slow to a crawl. Where it became untenable was during power outages (including lengthy ones during natural disasters). My phone data was literally useless. I couldn't even check the weather apps. This was my #1 reason for switching to an MVNO that included priority data.

Fees: US Mobile charges you the stated price, inclusive of taxes and fees. Mint's price was much higher than expected due to taxes and what seemed like extraneous fees.

So far I have much preferred US Mobile. Even though I have to use the Verizon network (slower data speeds) in order to get priority data, I haven't had any issues and it's still plenty fast. During the last major power outage I had zero issues with data. I plan to keep them when it comes time to renew.
Not really! There is a $25 "recovery fee" and other fees which might bring the mint deal within a few dollars of the visible one
When you go to this page, it states at the bottom T&C this is only for new customers. If you login to your account and try to find the discounted plan it is non-existent. If you know a workaround please let us know. Thanks.

BoA offer is the same as what Mint has. It's not a card cash back offer.

Does anyone else think that at least half of BOA "deals" are just advertisements for sales that companies offer to everyone on their website? This borders on fraudulent false advertising, IMHO.

Then again, one could say the same about SD - most "deals" are just advertising sales so the site gets their affiliate revenue.

Since there is a 10GB limit on phone hotspot data, if I need more hotspot data (e.g., extended power outage) can I put the Mint sim in an old T-Mobile Franklin "Test Drive" hotspot and use data from my phone data bucket? I tried the Mint sim in the Franklin (T9 or T8) hotspot and confirmed that it worked.

I had mint for almost 8 years, and was great. Good. Lived in coverage. Moved a year ago, and customer support was so shit, and I never had service. Found out after like 30 hours with customer service, if you have 100 MB while roaming for 3 months in a row, you will never have roaming coverage ever again with that account.

Amazon has a similarly priced 3-mo UNL plan for $45 if anyone needs a shorter commitment.

Is there a way to get AMEX cell phone protection when buying a year of service? From what I read, the service has to be paid monthly for the phone to be covered so you would be uncovered for at least 10 months.

I've used that benefit a couple of times now so hate to miss out on it. The other cell phone insurance options I'm aware of are ridiculously expensive.

I was unable to replicate this deal. There was a recovery fee added on for $25, that put the costs over $200.

Yes it sucks the taxes and fees are so high. If you have an Amex card you may have an offer for $45 back which makes the deal much more attractive, but also ymmv.

You've used it a couple of times as in you got a free phone replacement each time? Was there any fees or was it completely free? I have AMEX too but never once used cell phone protection (with Amex or anyone else for that matter).
