I'll disagree here, and that's as an owner of an M1 Pro 14" MBP and a Thinkpad T15 (work).

Sure, I prefer the design of the MacBook, but my Thinkpad is near bulletproof as well. And in this case, the OLED screen is going to be similar in quality to the MBP, except refresh rate.

Where Apple to me is really falling behind is included SSD. There is zero reason a $2000 laptop only has 512GB and it's $200 more to upgrade.

Not to mention all the additional nuisances that MacOS has and the walled garden. I bought mine used for $1200 1.5 years ago, but there's no way I'd spend $1600-2k new on them when machines like this exist.
Is 64gb not enough? Yeah, i don't like that it's soldered here but you really can't get any better than this. I do wish it was 120Hz also. Their 14 inch ones have it.

You can use software to make it 90Hz (at least on the 14" one)

Not on this one and the reason is there is no UHD+ OLED panel higher than 60Hz for laptops. The 14" model uses a 90Hz model but intentionally downclocked it to 60 Hz, probably for saving battery.

How come machines at this spec can be priced so competitively, while similar Macbook Pros are north of $2k?

MacBooks are in a league of their own. And that's coming from someone who thinks this laptop is perfect for my own tastes.

Is P16s the same design as T16? Asking because I ordered this one [lenovo.com] for work on Cyber Monday for $1,200, and am now thinking of swapping for the current deal. P16s seems to have better screen, more memory (I don't think I need that though), and better CPU.
My main use is not heavy (office suit, browser with multiple tabs), working hybrid from home and on the road, so if one has a much better screen for bright conditions it would be probably the main deciding factor. Any help deciding much appreciated.
P.S. I also noticed that T16 has 3yr warranty vs just 1yr for P16s, so maybe keep what I ordered?

Typically Ryzen is better than Intel in 2024. But the OLED screen is nice and will consume the battery savings. If the specs are same and you want a better display then this else T16. I suspect your Intel will be better on battery especially if you don't have OLED.

I own this laptop ( This exact one with the OLED 4k screen and the 64 gigs of RAM) and a M1 max MB Pro. Other than the screen refresh rate on the MBP ( and battery life), I take this laptop over the MBP anyday. The keyboard with number pad, the gorgeous OLED screen and USB-A port.... If you are on the fence, get it.

Thanks! I ended up ordering this one. T16 is arriving a couple days before P16s. Will compare side by side and return one of them. If neither of them runs hot, I will probably choose based on how I like the screens, indoors and outdoors.
