Holy wow I'm pissed. I bought this computer last week because it was a good deal, and now it's on sale even more (maybe because of all the buyers complaining about the SSD BSOD issue)! Now this is a bonafide steal for a prebuilt. Of course, Walmart is refusing to partially refund me per their policy which sucks. Guess I'll have to reset/repackage/return/reorder.

Anyways, here's my post from the other thread that can help people that are worried about the SSD BSOD issue (check your SSD first to make sure you have the faulty Western Digital one - otherwise this guide is pointless for you):

"Here's the configuration I got:

Motherboard: MSI Pro B650 VC - Wifi
GPU: XFX 7900GRE
RAM: T-Force Vulcan 2x16GB DDR5
Cooling: Hybrid AIO CyberpowerPC branded cooling system. CPU is liquid cooled, but the case also has RGB fans around the exterior too. Fans are soft to moderately loud. When on full blast they sound like a softish white noise machine, which I actually kind of liked.
Hard Drive: Western Digital (WD) Blue SN580 2TB SSD
PSU: Didn't bother checking. It works. Maybe I'll bother unscrewing the cover and checking later.

Noted that the GPU was sagging in the slot so I had to order a $10 GPU support brace to prevent any excess warping (it's a big GPU).

Super easy to dodge the SSD crashing issue. I booted up the computer and set up Windows 11 without connecting to the internet. You can also gamble on setting up W11 with internet if you want. (sounds like some people have had success, others haven't) Here's a quick guide on how to do that:

1: When you reach the setup portion asking for internet, you can press SHIFT+F10 keys to open Command Prompt.
2: Execute OOBE\BYPASSNRO command in the Command Prompt.
3: After executing this command, Microsoft setup will reboot the computer. After the reboot, you'll get a new button option on the same part of the setup asking about connecting that says I don't have Internet or Continue with limited setup to skip the Internet requirement (it's in small text that's hard to see because Microsoft wants your sweet sweet data). This will allow you to set up the computer with a local ID and password without needing a Microsoft account, and complete the install without connecting to the internet.

That let me set up Windows 11 without internet, likely on the software version that CyberpowerPC set up the computer on that convinced them the computer was good to ship. I had no crashing.

At this point, you could connect to the internet and try to grab the WD SSD firmware update before your computer updates Windows and/or crashes. Of course WD have their own dumb launcher/hub just like every other tech company, so you'll need to grab that to update the hard drive. Here's the link to that (creds to cardcrush on an earlier post on this thread): https://support-en.wd.com/app/ans...l#subject3

You can get the online version if you're connected to the internet, otherwise use another computer to download the offline version to a USB. Copy it to your new computer, install it. Open it up, give it a bit of time to scan your computer (it might look like it freezes for a bit). Then once it recognizes your SSD, an option should pop up under one of the various tabs/menus in the WD hub notifying you that there's an update available. I can't remember if I had to be connected to the internet (I don't think I had to be, since I used the offline install hub). Took a few seconds to update to a newer firmware version, and that was that.

The whole process took me like 10 minutes to do. After that I updated Windows and got all the other various driver/security updates installed (only thing I didn't update to was the newest Windows 24H2 preview - but I think the problem with the SSD became an issue before that was released). Been using the computer intermittently the last two days. No issues with crashing. Only game I've tested atm is Marvel Rivals at 1440p (runs fine on high settings with no issues). Glad Walmart is accepting returns until January 31st at least!

Hope this helps! I'll update this post if things change."
I was one of the people having the BSOD problem. For what it's worth, I emailed Cyberpower about it and they very promptly confirmed it should be addressed with the firmware upgrade and provided instructions, which I did and have not had a problem with it since then. Honestly I went from super frustrated to pretty pleased with it. If I could do it all again at $200 less and knowing up front what the exact problem was going to be and how to fix it, it would be a no-brainer purchase.

For people who bought in the last couple of days and already received the unit, did you have to update the SSD firmware? I'm wondering if the manufcturer updated the SSD firmware at the factory since a month ago when people reported the BSOD problem. Thanks.
I downloaded the utility from WD and it said it had been updated to latest already.

The reference cards are built by XFX.
Oh, I didn't know that. It looked different from the ones that I've seen here and on reddit.

Don't believe that, it didn't update. Once you install Dashboard from USB stick, make sure "Windows update" is off, and then now connect to WiFi ( first time ) and click "Check for update" under Tools> "check for update" button on WD Dashboard app. The latest version should be at least "281050WD".

I will be all over those open box returns.

Please return it guys. This thing sucks.
The deal is over, open box will probably retail more expensive than this deal, around $1,100. Good luck

Interesting, I'll check later. I played three hours of the new Indiana Jones game in 4K High, a bunch of Balatro, and some benchmarking without any problem so far, thankfully.

Thanks for the warning, but my drive already shows 281050WD. I think some of these are coming good to go.

Anyone seeing "No signal " upon booting and then picking HDMI with some delay? This happens after AMD firmware update I guess. I didn't see this initially or before updates

If you have the MSi motherboard, it does take around 20-30 seconds to boot up.

APEVIA 850W GOLD
XFX RX 7900 GRE Speedster MERC
T-force 16gbx2 - DDR5 6000 - CL38-38-38-78 (I think TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB)
ADATA Legend 800 GOLD - 2TB

Note: Two things seemed incorrect
- The bios had the ram timings set to CL40-40-40-84 and the clock was set to 4800MHz, so I changed that to the above timings and clock speed.
- All the fans (top, side, and back) were all set to exhaust, so I reversed the side fans so that they were intake fans. Not too difficult. Luckily, the power cord had enough leeway for me to do it.

I just opened up my PC and got it set up.

The MFG Date on the box is August 2024. The HW seems to be the same as others have posted earlier.

Motherboard: MSI B650-VC
RAM: Teamgroup T-Force Vulcan Red DDR5-6000 RAM
GPU: Radeon 7900 GRE Reference
SSD: WD Blue SN580 NVMe - Firmware version is 281010WD per Crystal Disk. I haven't checked with WD Digital Dashboard yet.
PSU: Can't see what it is without unscrewing it. My guess is Apevia 850W.

The PC is connected to my monitor with a HDMI cable. On the very first boot the monitor showed 'No Signal' for a while then the MSI screen briefly came up and went to the Windows set up screen.

After setting up Windows now when you power the PC on it says 'No Signal' on the monitor for 40 seconds and them loads straight in to Windows. There is no BIOS or MSI screen. This is right out the box. I haven't connected it to the internet yet so no updates have been installed.

Is there a fix for that? My other computers show the BIOS screen right away and can load in to Windows in around 30 seconds from switching on.

I know it's luck of the draw and the boards are similar, but I believe the ASRock uses an ancient intel WiFi 5 card vs the MSi with a WiFi 6E variant. It's a $20 upgrade on the ASRock, but I'm hoping to see MSi when mine gets dropped off today. That said, my kid has a similar MSi motherboard in his DIY build and it takes ~ 40 seconds to boot, something unique to MSi AM5 systems. We will see soon!
I'm not 100% sure, but the ASRock motherboard might support 1 x Gen5 NVMe SSDs (even though the SSD that comes with the computer is Gen4). So that might be a positive towards getting the ASRock motherboard.
