500 points are just not worth the time spent dealing with all the USPS mailings with credit card offers you'll get - you're signing up for marketing from them.

This says 1.3 cents per mile. But that's just an estimate. They're only worth something if you're going to use them. If you don't fly Alaska much, you may never have enough miles to use them.

It's a premium credit card. As a holder of multiple premium cards, I'd be "ecstatic" if the fee was only $395. The point is you exceed the value of the fee every year (if you do it right). The new Alaska card is supposed to come with a global companion pass. That alone probably outdoes the annual fee if you travel annually. Add to that: sign up mileage bonus, Alaska club access and probably additional perks? It sounds pretty easy to get the annual fee value back.

Also if you already have an AA credit card and are thinking of trying to maximize your rewards...forget it.

From the Terms Page fine print:
Offer available for new Alaska Airlines Premium Credit card accounts only. Cardholders upgrading from an existing Alaska Airlines consumer credit card are not eligible for this offer. Offer fulfilled by Alaska Airlines.

Seems like a gamble that this "premium" card will have a better offer than the 70k point offer for their existing credit card, no?

I agree with you. But even with the current offer of 70K miles for the $95 fee, that's a good deal in itself IF you're willing to charge $3K in the first 90 days.

Terms:

1 - Register your interest in the Alaska Airlines Premium Credit Card by Dec 31, 2024, and you will receive 500 miles for registration and, upon approval of your application for the Alaska Airlines Premium Credit Card, 5,000 miles in addition to any other new account bonus offer you may qualify for. To qualify, applicants must apply via a link that will be emailed to them using the email address provided in their offer registration within 14 days of receiving the exclusive application link. Must provide valid Mileage Plan account information to be eligible. Limit of one registration offer per valid Mileage Plan account. By registering for this offer you agree to receive communications from Alaska Airlines about, and how to apply for, the Alaska Airlines Premium Credit Card. Communications sent and managed by Alaska Airlines. You may opt out at any time.
Registration bonus miles will post to your Mileage Plan account within 4 weeks of registering for this offer. Offer fulfilled by Alaska Airlines.
5,000 miles bonus offer will post to your Mileage Plan account within 2 billing cycles upon new account approval. Offer available for new Alaska Airlines Premium Credit card accounts only. Cardholders upgrading from an existing Alaska Airlines consumer credit card are not eligible for this offer. Offer fulfilled by Alaska Airlines.

2 - Earn 3 Miles (consisting of 2 bonus Miles and 1 base Mile) for every $1 spent on eligible foreign net purchases. $1 = 3 Miles. Eligible foreign net purchases include purchases (1) made in a foreign currency, or (2) made in U.S. dollars if the transaction is made or processed outside of the United States and US Territories. Bank of America is not responsible for how foreign purchases are billed to the credit card.

3 - Earn 3 Miles (consisting of 2 bonus Miles and 1 base Mile) for every $1 spent on eligible dining net purchases. $1 = 3 Miles. Eligible dining net purchases include Caterers, Eating Places, Restaurants, Bars, Cocktail Lounges, Discotheques, Nightclubs, Taverns/Drinking Places (Alcoholic Beverages), and Fast Food Restaurants. Merchants who accept Visa are assigned an MCC based on the type of products or services they primarily sell. Merchants, not Bank of America, categorize and submit purchases, so some purchases may not fall into the category where you might expect them to appear. When this occurs, purchases with that merchant won't qualify for bonus Miles. Purchases made at a merchant that does not process under an eligible MCC or processes through a third-party payment account, digital wallet not supported by Bank of America or similar technology where the technology does not support transmission of MCCs will not qualify for bonus Miles.

Alaska has pretty solid point value for flights from west coast to Europe on Condor, especially in high-cost periods. I flew a one-way from Frankfurt to LAX for 25k points + $179 (and fees are always less if flying USA to Europe).... recently I've seen flights around 35k points, not sure if it will drop below that again for certain routes / periods :/ Can still be useful though.

Completely agree. In addition. "

The card will offer Alaska Lounge passes and inflight Wi-Fi passes" i think that's totally worth it. Considering the lounge alone would be a great way to escape the other lounges. inflight wifi is a bonus. I think the value will come with those kinds of perks that add up.
