In general, a light color alarm clock is amazing.

Since about 12mo we used red and green (with a gen 1 rest) for sleeping and awake. Turn the light red when putting our son to bed, and then turn it green before coming in to get him out of bed in the morning. Long before I would have thought possible, he was understanding the colors and it helped both bedtime routines and wake up.

He's now a bit over 2 and we have added 30 min of blue that comes on before the green. If he wakes up early and the light is blue, he can get up and play with toys and books until it turns green and he can come out of his room.

if you own one and are having issue where your device is having problem playing the white noise check your mailbox to see if the manufacturer sent you a free replacement notice (apparently it's a known issue). Our device was having this issue where it would take a while for the noise to come on after activation or not coming on at all.
