There are 91,452 BTU in one gallon of propane. So assuming this device can actually hit it's 60k BTU an hour max then you would get 90 mins per gallon of propane.

Also I'm assuming you mean 20LB propane tank, not 20 gallons. A 20LB propane tank holds 4.7 gallons of propane. At it's max setting of 60k BTU an hour you could expect it to roughly last 7 hours. Most likely a little less because you cannot use every single drop in a propane tank.

Double that figure for the 30k BTU rate.

My 25+ year old torpedo heater died a couple weeks ago and didn't want another one that uses kerosene. So this is very timely for heating my shop this winter.
Really like the fact that it is hybrid and can use a regular extension cord or a Ryobi battery.

We use it to tailgate. Does a decent job out on the open field. I'm sure it'd be even better in a contained area like a shop

I have this one and it's fantastic. Warms up my 3 car garage after about 30 minutes in a midwest winter. I use it with Makita batteries and an adapter, or just plug it in.

Tell me more about the makita battery and adapter - what exactly do you use and is it better performer than ryobi battery?

The dewalt one has a ton of 1 star reviews, some of which have it failing and catching on fire. Anyone know if this one is any safer than that?

In the Home Depot reviews someone said a gallon an hour. Don't know for sure but that's what I read.

FYI when using the 18v battery, you get about 8 minutes per ah of use. So a 4ah battery will get you about 32 minutes.

It burns propane for the heat. The fan can be powered by either an 18v battery or wall plug.

I have one and it is absolutely fantastic! When I run it in my garage I use a Carbon Monoxide Detector that I got from Home Depot just to be safe.
