GratKit is having a sale on their 6-roll packs of PETG 3D printer filament for $59.99. For comparison, these usually cost $69.99 on Amazon. If you also see a higher price, change the currency to USD on the top right, somehow it sometimes defaults to AUD.

The price applies to the 6-pack of either black, white, gray, or clear filament.

I bought some filament from GratKit a while ago, each spool comes with this resealable storage bag, I've uploaded a photo of it as the second deal image (it's not the foil that the filament is vacuum sealed in, but an additional bag to protect the filament from moisture).
  • Material: PETG
  • Diameter: 1.75mm +/- 0.03mm
  • Weight: 1kg per spool
  • Colors: Black, White, Gray, Clear

A review on the GratKit site mentioned these having issues with Bambu... And for that reason, I'm out

Probably only because of the cardboard spools in the AMS? If so, plenty of workarounds for that.

this works out to $10 per spool. typically 1kg of filament will be $20-25. not sure how other multipacks compare, i dont need that much filament at a time.

I've used their silk filament with great success on my X1, however I had to respool due to the cardboard not good for the AMS which was a pain.

It's PETG if it were PLA or plus or something it would be more slick

PLA > PETG? I thought its the other way. Been printing PETG since day one due to what I understood of PLA: lower heat tolerance, not as ridged (but more flexible), slight odor. PETG tends to be more expensive on Amazon at least, if ever so slightly.

The biggest question should be: anyone familiar with this website? Dont want to put my CC into a stranger site.

PETG is more flexible. PLA will fail suddenly and explosively (as well as deform when left somewhere hot like inside of a car), while PETG will bend before failing and tolerate higher temps. I've found plenty of PETG on Amazon for cheaper than PLA. PETG's largest issue is that it is more temperamental to print with vs. PLA and usually produces 'uglier' results.

No. PETG more durable and more heat resistant but needs drier location.

If we are talking about durability of the materials

PLA will melt away if you leave it in the car during summer faster. PETG will last longer

PLA also breaks easier as it is more brittle

PLA is easier to print and made from biorecycle too. 60% people uses PLA cuz it is easier to deal with

Cost wise. PLA usually cheaper which is expected

Overall this is a good deal for $10/kg. Black Friday ish pricing

I just said that because PETG I thought it is generally cheaper than PLA to begin with not because of the benefits or weaknesses of each material.
Actually I just checked and it seems like it is about the same now or PETG is actually more?
I remember like 2 years ago Inland PETG was always at least $5 less than Inland PLA at microcenter looks like this isn't the case anymore
I wonder why?
I have only one roll of PETG but I never tried printing PETG yet.
