They should be giving guac or queso for free these days with those kinds of profits but they hide behind "higher costs of goods" excuse. Don't see prices coming down after other ingredients decrease!
UPDATE: just came across this well written analysis on Reddit about "7th price" increase

Now that Brian Nicols has left Chipotle, I suspect Starbucks will be raising prices too since coffee wholesale prices are at a 47 year high. And along with that, his salary will double again.

Are we as consumers paying for larger portions that they have always promised but never delivered and now using it as an excuse?
I mean many people had choices when McDs kept raising prices and people finally pushed back Hence the $5 Value Meal that keeps getting extended. Nichols moving over to Starbucks is doing the same thing, taking away all the discounts and making it seem like a premium brand.
To each their own. But you are right, as long as there is no push back, they'll keep jacking up the prices and make excuses as to why disguising the real reason. People need to educate themselves if prices are really going up or we are just padding the CEOs pockets. As I can foresee, Chipotle raising prices again next year blaming it on "tariffs" or the "excuse of the quarter/" to explain it away
There was a recent article about Costco shareholder meeting where they observed more people are buying meats and produce to cook at home given the rising cost of restaurants, so it seems the push back is trending
UPDATE: Found the article I read recently:
