My bad - first coupon is regional (promo page says MidAtlantic), changed the title.

Health police chiming in - these contain sugar alcohols which are starting to be known as bad as sugar in recent studies (if not worse). Plus stomach issues.

Admittedly much more expensive but naturally sweet with no sugar or no sugar alcohol, I LOVE Chia Smash. Totally natural, low calorie, and tastes so good without anything weird in it. It's the only jelly/jam substitute I've found that's this tasty and good for you.

Just saying.

Thanks for the tip. I eat PB&J 5 times a week. I use good quality peanut butter and bread but the jelly is so full of sugar.

Just make sure it's real fruit jam/jelly. There is no need to buy jelly with added sugar as berries are already sweet enough

I looked everywhere for a substitute, Chia Smash was the only healthy thing I could find that was tasty. I get it at Whole Foods.

That doesn't really exist, as sugar is part of the process in creating jam/jelly intrinsically.

It's so good. Plus, you can buy peanut butter with no sugar (just pure peanuts) and use the Chia Smash for the sweet part, so it double saves you. You can eat a sweet PBJ with no consequences. And btw, I don't work for them. LOL.

The research on sugar alcohols was significantly flawed. While some can indeed cause distress depending on individual sensitivity and the quantity consumed, Allulose is the latest addition to the market.

There are no sugar alcohols in this product. There is sugar, polydextrose, and maltodextrin. Maltodextrin is worse than sugar in creating glucose spikes.

I guess you know more than the researchers at SUNY. Oh, and where did you go to med school? I went to Jefferson.

I'm not referring to stomach distress (although that's clearly the case from a symptomatic side effect but not necessarily long term damage such as ulcerative colitis). More recent studies point to carcinogenic effects, which is a bigger concern. In the end, pure sugar is most likely (in controlled dosages) less of an issue than sugar alcohols. Jury is out, but it's leaning that way.
