I 💙 that they did away with their proprietary plug & adopted the universal USB C cable plus the charger plug that goes in the cig lighter has audio out & extra usb port for your phone charger. The hands free voice control is a must have for distraction free driving & applying chap stick & eye drops.

Unless they've come out with newer models in the past year (I haven't looked since then), this is the best model to get IMO. I just wish it was cheaper. They're only $179.99 directly from Garmin too.

For outdoorsy people, stand-alone GPS units are irreplaceable. Maybe with the near-future, sat to cell phone via Starlink this becomes a non issue, but at this time, most hiking/backpacking/skiing/biking trailheads, boat ramps, fishing spots, etc. are still at places where cell towers do not reach, That means that you will not be able to search a place you are going to, nor calculate/download the route before you reach the civilization. There are some workarounds where you can download massive amount of data that will hold a small section of google maps data locally on your phone, but this takes storage space, and can easily fail (data wiped during update and you don't find out until it's too late)...if you never drove 20-30 miles on an unmarked desert road, you will never know the comfort that a trusted GPS unit with the entire continent's worth of maps data already on it brings...
