The Ryzen 7 8840HS is a powerful CPU for both single core and multi-core processing. It comes with the Radeon 780M iGPU which can handle all casual gaming with ease and even allow for some low end 3D gaming. You could play the Witcher 3 at 45 fps if you really wanted to.

Screen is 2K touchscreen with 300 nits of brightness which looks decent specs wise.

16GB RAM is the right amount unless you have a specific reason for wanting more. It is soldered on though, so no RAM upgrades.

Review (Review unit has different screen):
https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-...856.0.html

Battery life should be about 7-8 hours of real world usage.

Sadly the USB-C ports are both 10GBPS, so no thunderbolt 4 on this laptop.

I think this would make an excellent laptop if you value CPU performance, want to do some casual gaming and won't need all day battery life.

I'll be JB welding the hinges on my hp envy x360 this weekend. Broke after a couple years of light usage.

I bought an HP Envy 360 a few generations ago on a slick deal. The price was good but it had driver bugs with the integrated graphics. HP never did fix the problem. AMD released drivers about 9 months later. So a great laptop except that it crashed every 30-60 minutes. As long as support isn't a priority these are reasonably well built and have good specs for the money.

very nice except for the soldered ram, although if the hinges aren't designed to last more than a few years maybe it doesn't matter

I have no experience with an HP envy but based on the specs it is a great deal. I assume no active stylus is included.
