I believe they are extending the deadline to Feb 28 .. saw the date in the app .. marketing website not updated yet
Correct. I just finished my return and the Turbotax app shows submit by 2/28.
I have to file with premium due to stocks and crypto, and can verify there was no charge to complete and file my return.

I know you can download the state for free. Does anyone know if online filing for state is also free? They usually charge for that so wanted to verify.
Just filed today. Used Premium to efile both federal and 2 state returns all for free.

They had something similar last year and you could bypass the limit by making a second TurboTax account. But this time you have to file before Feb and that's kinda hard.

It also let you efile multiple states for free.
Has anyone answered this question? Does a new TurboTax account that is not linked to last year's filing get past the restriction?

Thank you, repped. I can confirm that it worked. Right after filing, I received an email from Intuit saying that it looks like I have two TurboTax accounts. But I don't see how they can come after me after it's already been filed.

I created the account in the app, did all the work on the laptop, then got to the final page where it said the $0 offer is only available in the app, and the cost would be $128 if I proceeded on the computer. So I switched back to the app and filed for free.

To be fair, I think it was a security measure, not that they were questioning my use of the promotion. The email went to the old address and the subject line was Your TurboTax Account. Trying to attach a screenshot, but not sure if I did right.

Yup I see it. Ah that makes sense, guess the reason behind it was making sure you were the one filing taxes in two accounts, I jumped to conclusions too fast.

It looks like you don't even need to file in the app. All you have to do is start the return in the app and proceed to checkout in Step 1 under the "File" tab. After completing this step and confirming that everything (including the Premium upgrade and two states) was free, it seems to unlock everything in the desktop browser. Previously, the desktop browser version would scold me for not using the app and threatened to charge me.
I did another family member return yesterday and this worked. Started in the app, switched to the laptop, input everything, then went back to the app to check out and get the order confirmation. Waited a day while we reviewed everything, then e-filed using my laptop without any issues. And this was an account that filed with Turbotax last year using the download version. Switching to online was enough to qualify for the promotion without a new account or different email address.

I created a new TT online account and filed.
How long did it take for status to go from "pending" to "accepted" for you guys? Mine is stuck at Pending for over 24hours now, it only took minutes in the past few years. Should I be worried?

If you had a previous TT account, there is a 48 hour hold according to the email one of my kids received. It definitely took longer than usual, but all of our returns eventually were accepted.
