The retail price of this speaker is $3850. The silver is the only one at this price. It was on backorder when I ordered my set and they told me an ETA of 1/18, but I received mine Friday.

These are fantastic neutral speakers. Watch Erin's speaker review on YouTube for all the objective data.

The silver paint job is gorgeous. It's metallic silver and it looks great.

Been this price for a while. Seems most of their silver speakers are on closeout. Also heard they're discontinuing the Performa3 line for a new speaker line in 2025

Try looking at used around you as well. I found a pair of f228be for under 4.5K about a year ago on audiogon, more than half off of MSRP. Speakers generally do not retain their value.

I bought a pair of F228Be in 2021 and had to do with B stock for one speaker since they were in very short supply. $2k for the F226Be and $3k for the F228Be are great prices for fantastic speakers. The speakers are designed to have wide dispersion so you don't need to be at a sweet spot to get the true soundstage. Beryllium tweeters are also not hype. They sound better than other tweeters that I have heard

Agree Beryllium isn't hype, $4k a pair is a good price.
It can be worth the cost to some.

On a budget the Revel Concerta2 F35 for $800 a pair is very good also.
They're based on same design as these without the Beryllium(& DCC).

I would point out imho both need solid clean power for optimal performance.

I'll add that the F226Be is a true 3-way, whereas the F35/F36 are 2.5-way.

I have a pair of the F226Be in the silver color (gorgeous by the way), and a pair of the F36 in white.

I love them both. The Beryllium definitely wins, but I'm not sure it's proportional to the price difference.

I wish they had a center channel to match the size of the F226Be. Maybe they do now, but when I bought mine, it's a monster compared to the towers.

For most just getting into the game, a set of tower speakers is already so far superior to other forms of audio. How deep you go into the respective lineup is more of a question of your budget.

My recommendation: Grab a pair and love them for life!

I agree and recommend that all the time.
Go after those speakers that floored you but out of budget(within reason), even if it's piece by piece!

Did that over 10 years ago, seemed like a lot at the time but actually was a bargain in the long run.
I have listened to many many speakers in that time frame, only once I would say made me envious.
Ironically it was Paradigm's Personas!

I'm kinda glad I don't have the environment/layout to take full advantage of them or I would seriously consider the upgrade!

This was my impression of them too. I had M105 and loved them. Then I upgraded to M126Be and while the Be tweeter is phenomenal on the highs, I did not feel as it justified the price difference between the two.

Though they look similar on the outside, the F228Be is a major redesign of the F208 and this is the same for the other speakers in the series. So it's not just the Beryllium tweeter. That being said, who knows why Revel thought that it made sense to move the price point so much higher. I think that these are set up to compete with speakers like the Focal Kanta #2 which are priced the same. The sale price is a really good price though.

Simply manufacturing with Beryllium is a huge increase in cost.

I'd been eyeing these speakers for a long time and finally pulled the trigger in December and got them delivered last week. Upgraded from the LS50 Wireless II, which I've really liked, but this is in a different league. Incredible dynamics and resolution; I now see exactly what Erin meant in his review [erinsaudiocorner.com]: "The snare has an excellent 'paper sound' timbre to it. Cymbal crash has an air that I can almost visualize the sound scattering." In short, these speakers have brought me closer than any others I've had to the music, and that's best thing I could say about a pair of speakers.

I was concerned these wouldn't have enough low-frequency extension, but the bass is punchy and deep enough in-room. I may still get a KC62 down the road.

If these go on sale again at $4000/pair (they probably will), don't hesitate. This is probably the greatest bargain in high-end speakers, and I don't think you can get better sound south of $10K. For 99.9% of audiophiles these will be "end-game" speakers.

I would throw these MA Gold 200s into that challenge and only $500 more.

No returns, and while I obviously can't properly judge them without hearing them side by side, based on what I know about Monitor Audio and Revel, and folded ribbon tweeters vs. beryllium, I would bet a lot of money that the Revel is the better speaker by a mile. The research that Revel and Harman have done is incredible, and in Kevin Voecks they have one of the two or three best speaker engineers in the business.
