Dang. $40 for a sweater huh
You could always buy a hanes or fruit for $10 then buy a pack of North Face patches to add to them
I find that there's a night and day difference between cheap clothes and quality clothes. Unfortunately, that's not always even consistent with just buying by the brand name. Especially with The North Face. In any case, though, the REI sale prices are only good (for me, a poor person) when it's really, really discounted for end of season clearance, etc. Otherwise, Sierra is pretty solid for items like this. Especially when it's then discounted from there even further. Not uncommon to get TNF items in the $22 dollar range once on sale.

This is why clothing quality has gotten worse and worse over the years. People still expect to pay bottom dollar prices for everything, instead of ponying up for quality pieces. Not that this item is high quality -- I have no idea.

But that general attitude is why clothing manufacturers continue to downgrade quality with each iteration. They need to keep the prices down somehow.
Yup and some of these people you know shout to the heavens on Facebook etc about how nothing is made in America anymore.

That is honestly the smallest logo I've ever seen on anything TNF haha. That alone might make it worth the sticker price.

I have one from 2 years ago. It's been through many washes and looks great still. They are on the thicker side but very comfortable.

Patagonia also runs a stainable business giving up all profits for environmental protection.
Also has a lifetime warranty where they will either repair or fix any of their gear for free.
I happily pay for pat prices.

Lol, they donate 1%, not all of their profits.

I am absolutely AMAZED at the pricing of clothes now a days. I know they are nice but I would never in my life pay $40 for a t shirt. Or anything over $150 for a jacket and if I spending close to that I better wear it for 2 decades and love it.
Imagine if these clothing items were actually made in the US.

I dunno why people hate on your post. You speak facts. Ignorant people like those IS the reason why we have expensive clothes at shit quality, and all they do is hate and cry

It's just cope from patagucci owners. "Sustainable" sells to the green crowd.

I've found the higher end north face stuff pretty good. Summit series, goretex ski stuff I like. Warranty is great also. I've had a goretex jacket delaminate and they gave me a gift card for the full price of the jacket 10 years later. I buy dead bird now and it's not that much better than tnf. More of a style choice.

Take a TNF next to Patagonia, pata wins all the time, tnf quality gone down hill pretty hard recently

They want you to believe that they exist for a good cause. At the end of the day, they are a for-profit company. Garments are not expensive to make.
