this has been $99 forever except for when it dipped to $89 a couple months ago
Maybe be careful?
If you don't need speed but want nice capacity then this is a great buy. I have several that I store video on and even after years they all work well. I also have a 16GB Passport for Plex and after a year and 12GB+ on 24/7 it's still going strong as well.

When did the drop happen? Never noticed. This is the best price I have seen.
I bought it for $89.99 a couple months back. Can confirm that it was $89.99 at one point.

Is this shuckable? Does anyone know the dimensions of the drive inside? I've read that WD 2.5'' drives are physically larger than normal 2.5'' drives--anyone know?
No Portable Western Digital drives made in the last 12 years have been shuckable, yet still the question comes up.
Frankly, it's probably closer to 15 years at this point.
Pretty soon, the unshuckableness of WD Passports will be able to drive on its own, without a driver's permit.
It's over. It's been over, and it's never coming back.
If you want a shuckable portable drive, Seagate is your choice (or LaCie, but you'll pay extra for that).
Toshiba's haven't been shuckable for probably 7 years or so now.

My problem with these drives that I dropped two of them while they are still spinning. Instant caput.
Prefer smaller size solid state drives now

They make rugged cases for these

Not OP, but I've had 2 come crashing down while in use, 1 instant failed and died.

The 12-18 inch USB cable they give you generally means it needs to be in an odd spot. For me, it meant sitting on top of my PC tower (on the floor) and plugged into it directly. The cable makes it short enough you can't really put it too far away, but also long enough that it has extra slack when sitting near the USB port it's plugged into. It snags easily on chair arms or similar

Definitely warehouse dependent. Anytime I saw someone post the $90 price, my local warehouse never had it for that price.

Got it for $90 a couple months ago. Rewrote it 8 times in Linux with badblocks. Found a couple of bad clusters at the end, shrunk usable space by a few hundred gigs. Debated exchange - decided not to bother.

I bought one of these years ago for $90 at Best Buy just walking in the door, so I wouldn't exactly call this a "deal" as such - the price for these has somehow managed to go up over the years without offering any improvements (Amazon has it for $120), probably because they are making fewer 2.5" HDDs, so if you feel you really need this particular one, it's likely as good a price as you'll get...
But you could also just get the WD Elements version for $89.99 directly from Western Digital. Last time I checked, they still had the same actual white label hard drive inside, and both have a plastic enclosure (unlike the Passport Ultra, which I don't think they even make anymore).
