The price premium on this device is coming from a series of factors:

The 2-in-1 form factor. This includes a price premium for the touch screen. Plenty of new chromebooks will omit touch screen functionality, though obviously 2-in-1 designs all incorporate a touch screen.
The 12.2" screen size. The screen size for commodity chromebooks tends around the 14" size. Anything outside that range (larger or smaller) commands a price premium. This is notably distinct from the Windows laptop space where 15.6" has been the commodity size for some time.
The i3-N305 CPU + 8GB RAM + 128GB of storage. Though these specs might represent a bare-minimum Windows laptop configuration, this configuration should qualify for Chromebook Plus feature support. Most notably, this CPU is a strong performer in a chromebook. Though increasingly common, 4GB of RAM still represents the entry-level space in chromebooks and remains functional if limited.

Good luck!
Jon

Huh - this model popped out of nowhere. Can't find a single review on YouTube or a reputable review website. Is it brand new? 12" 16:10 is kind of interesting but would like to know the screen quality, etc. Seems there's just one usb-c port which is not ideal.

Seems to be a 3:2 which is awesome, there hasn't been a good Chromebook with one in forever.
Edit: Actually it seems to be a 16:10 https://chromeunboxed.com/the-new...k-on-sale/

Specs don't mention an SD card slot so I'm guessing no. One pic on the left, front, shows what almost looks to be a slot but probably not. Would be an odd location for one.

Price is high compared to the non 2-in1 Acer model at Costco for $200 with same processor and 512GB SSD (no longer on sale, but was as low as $150 with coupon), but seems like a good value if it drops to less than $200 for a 2 in 1. Q&A section mentions support for Wacom EMR active stylus with an answer fromAcer, instead of USI like most other Chromebooks. Also only one USB-C port unlike other Chromebooks with 2. Repurposed Windows model?

Looks like that's the speaker bass port, it's on both sides.

Also specs show backlit keyboard.

And everything about this model seems like Chromebook Plus (minimum of i3, 8GB RAM, 1080p screen, 1080p camera), also included a 3 months of Google One with Gemini Advanced.

Yup, for a 12.2" I'd have expected at most 1 kg/2.2 lbs.

i3-N305 + 8 GB should qualify for Chromebook Plus.

Example:
https://news.acer.com/acer-expand...processors

I guess they didn't put "Plus" in the name cuz it's a "Spin" model.

There are 14 inch versions of both win11 S and Chromebook models with same N305 and 8GB similar other specs, both 2-n-1 and regular laptop form factors. I have one 14 inch 2-n-1 win11 S.

Since this deal is about a chromebook, I wonder if anyone reading this could answer my question: can you run MicroPython on a chromebook? I've googled and didn't find satisfactory answer yes or no. MicroPython runs on microcontrollers that you connect to your computer via USB. I know google chrome and edge have some such capabilities on windows machines, connecting to USB serial port right out of the browser. This question is about "will I be able to include a chromebook-only high school in my project or not". It's not about superiority of thisOS vs thatOS. Thanks for your time!

This seems to say it is possible.
