They add three months for free in addition to the 12 months you purchase.

This will no doubt start a raging debate over whether or not Norton is necessary or even a good idea Smilie but I will say this is the lowest price I've seen this 20 license deal at.

Very important - sadly Norton can and will force you to enter your credit card info just to get the product up and running.. but from there it's easy to go into your online norton account, turn off automatic billing (just be very careful what you click on to make sure you are really cancelling) and after that you can delete the credit card info you just entered and the Norton product will still work.

There is an argument that Windows Defender (comes free with Windows) is enough and the Norton purchase is not necessary, here's some articles that talk more about this

But if you have say family members or friends who are just not that computer-savvy and you feel they won't know enough to follow say pcworld's advice... "Not visiting shady websites, Not downloading unsolicited files, Not clicking links in emails or social media messages" ... you could make an argument the Norton might be worth it for them.

Do prepare yourself for Norton's non stop "I'm going to try to frighten you into buying this extra norton product and I will tell you the world will come to an end if you don't" tactics that pop up even if you disable Norton's "do you want ads" (seriously this is something you can adjust in settings in Norton and they still do it Stick Out Tongue ) option.. I know enough to ignore it but it's something worth warning said not-so computer literate family and friends about.

This is awful software that is CONSTANTLY trying to get you to give them more money for some service you do not even need.

Got it with my laptop and after a week I got sick of tbe intrusions and removed it

exactly, and this bogs down your computer so much that you need to get another CPU for your computer to be usable.
I wouldn't run Norton even if they paid me. AVOID

Norton itself may as well be a virus. The built in Windows defender is free and good for most people. If you want an add on, get Malwarebytes and don't pay for it but use it as a spot checker. If you have anything weird going on with your PC, run it and it'll probably find something. One of the few Antivirus programs that hasn't sold out yet. And if you're going to pay for one, MalwareBytes is a good one to buy.

Imagine paying for an inferior product that acts worse than much of the malware it purports to remove. This is not something anyone needs, nor is it something anyone should want. The absolute best thing you can do when you have Norton installed is CAREFULLY check to make sure it won't keep billing you and then try your best to uninstall it completely. Knowing that these people have your personal and credit card details really can't be fixed at that point.

Does the subscription start at the time of Amazon purchase or when the Norton license is first activated? (For some software Amazon purchases appear to activate immediately.)

Does the extra three months remain if you turn off auto-renewal. There is a comment in the reviews that you need to keep on auto-renewal to have the full 15 months. (Usually, you can turn off auto-renewal, let the subscription run out and then add a new license key the day it runs out. They bill the auto-renewal about 35 days before the subscription ends. They will refund the billed amount for auto-renewal up until at least the renewal date.)

The product page says that this is for new subscriptions only. Some comments say you need to uninstall Norton first before adding the new product key to continue using Norton and some say you just need to add the new product key.

Does anyone have experience with how this works specifically with this Amazon download version?

Subscription start when you create account and add it in your account.

User those one time account with limited fund and set expiration date before renewal.

Contact support online and they will add license to your current account, make sure your current license is close to expire, they will add another 15 months on it.
