Have these and mostly love them (had some right-bud charging problems and miss ANC/USB-C), will likely use them until a discount on gen 2.

What is better at $100? Would like some options if you are willing to share your knowledge.

My wife's have a charging thing where one doesn't always charge, but that could be user error too as I've never had the problem with mine.

Having stated that,
Like others have mentioned that these are due for a newer design and USB-C charging (maybe wireless?)
BUT keep in mind, All of the newer beats products released in the past 2-3 years have different chips in them. They don't offer all the Apple H1 / H2 features like the older beats headphones offered. They are designed more like regular bluetooth headphones rather than Apple airpods so newer Beats work better Cross-platform (android, windows etc.)
These powerbeats pro have the older H1 chip but it is still supported and offers all the apple H1 features within the apple ecosystem.
As for the charging/charging case issue, its mainly due to user error in my experience.
You have to MAKE SURE when you place them in the case the metal prongs make a secure connection and might need to be cleaned once in a while. Don't rely on the magnets to hold them securely all the time. Sometimes its the way the users have bent/adjusted the earhooks that make them not connect securely.
My 2 cents.
