I don't think you'll be able to beat this price from an American retailer. That said, these things are great for cutting ABS style plastic pipe (the type of pipe under your kitchen sink). Note - made in Germany, and the included blades are made in Solingen, Germany.

Cuts pipes quickly and without shavings in next to no time
Knipex BiX cuts pipes quickly - markings help you find the exact cutting position. By applying slight pressure with the first turn a guide line is created for the cutter to follow. A further turn with a slightly higher pressure is often enough to separate the material. The cut off section remains in the tool and does not fall down. In addition, there are no shavings.

Standard-compliant results: BiX cuts sealing sleeves just as it should
The Knipex BiX also works as a cutting tool for drip sleeves and sealing sleeves. It cuts the sleeves quickly and easily - in accordance with DIN 18534 at a distance of approx. 2-3 mm from the wall. Already standard in Germany, sealing sleeves help keep walls dry: They prevent water from penetrating the wall and conduct moisture away from the wall due to possible leaks in water connections.
  • Clever pipe cutter: Cuts pipes without shavings and fits comfortably in the hand
  • Can cut high-temperature plastic drain pipes and electrical conduits in next to no time
  • Can be used to cut sealing sleeves during final assembly – close to the wall, standard-compliant
  • Cuts unreinforced plastic pipes from Ø 20 to 50 mm with a wall thickness of up to 2.4 mm
  • Cuts soft plastic pipes and those with foam cores from Ø 20 to 50 mm with a wall thicknesses of up to 3.5 mm
  • Cuts sealing sleeves approx. 2-3 mm from the wall
  • Cuts pipes quickly, cleanly and without shavings
  • Rotatable knife block for cutting plastic pipes (blade in the middle) and sealing sleeves (blade outside)
  • With locking mechanism for safe transport
  • Two spare blades integrated in the tool

This thing is the best for tubular pvc pipe. I use this to repipe undersink plumbing in rental property. Usually the pipes are so cheap to replace this makes it easy to do so between tenants so that everything looks fresh and you avoid calls for emergency leaks.

Looks like it's been already cloned in chineesium for $9

https://www.amazon.com/cutter-pla...0D28X1KLR/

Considering the main breakable part is the blade and it is not particularly sturdy on Knipex either, I would probably not pay the premium.

I love this tool so much. Was working with 3/4" HDPE conduit on a project, trying to cut it with a RIGID brand pipe cutter. Took like 5 minutes and 100 spins to cut through. It mostly just deformed the conduit, but eventually would cut it. I got this and it literally takes like 5 seconds and 1-2 spins to cut, perfectly cleanly. Worth every penny if you have a similar need. I haven't tried it on PVC.

It's crazy they even copied Knipex's model number. Unfortunately, for $9, the reviews were fairly poor. Even the Amazon Vine Customers [amazon.com] who got it for free gave the knock-off version you linked bad reviews. I do own this particular Knipex version, and while I've only used it one time, when I used it for an under-sink job, it cut through the white ABS pipe like butter.

Do me a favor and google "Knipex 90 22 10 BK" and let everyone know how many you find selling for $28 or less. This is an Amazon UK deal, and that's why the List price is funky. Here is a link from Haus of Tools - and this is closer to typical selling price: https://hausoftools.com/products/...68NyzIJ4p1

Here's one from KC Tool, a big German tool dealer, and they show US List Price for this at $52.40 (and shipping is extra): https://www.kctool.com/knipex-bix...j3rutGgEpT

Would this be appropriate for PVC conduit when running electrical? Or is just a recip or cutoff saw used?

I think this is a great product. I've personally used it multiple times on 1/2" pex and cpvc, as well as 1.5" ABS and the resulting cuts are perfectly clean and square, no deburring required. I'm still on the original blade.

It's definitely NOT made for schedule 80. Even schedule 40 is on the thick side for this tool (ie., you have to spin the blade 360° around the PVC multiple times and then possibly snap it). So, it can work on schedule 40, but isn't ideal. On electrical, it's best suited for thin wall conduit (which is explicitly mentioned in the OP bulletin points).

Yeah, both Knipex and the clone mention breaking blades. Hard to tell if this is a user error (folks trying to cut a sewage ABS pipe) or actually sub-par blade. A regular sink pipe can be cut with a usual utility knife. It's a bit tricky to make the cut straight, but the cut side always goes into a fitting and is concealed from the view. My approach so far was to insert the pipe into something circuclar and use that as a guide. I'm thinking of designing a 3D printed model similar to Knipex but using a regular utility blade.
