Do not EVER use the hardwire cutters on these unless they're the replaceable models like on the Surge or Wave+. If you clamp down too hard, it'll deform the metal and render the pliers very difficult to operate if not worthless altogether.
This is a great tool, but be realistic and use the "right" tool whenever possible.
I agree, but just as an FYI from someone who has done that a bunch, you can file a warranty claim and send it in for repair (~$10 for your shipping in) or if you would prefer to fix it yourself a quick brush of the cutter section with a Dremel followed by a drop of wd40 should get things back into shape.

It's things like this, and not having scissors, that makes me either go with low end multitools, like Walmart/Ozark Trail, or as you mentioned the Surge-level and up.
I'm by no means a heavy or pro user of multi tools, but the middleground like this Rev just seems like a bad value to me.

The bargain basement multitools hurt to hold and don't do anything well. This strikes the happy medium for me where I can use it for it's purpose and carry it daily, but if I walk into a place with unexpected security and I need to toss it my day isn't ruined.
The (Costco shelf) predecessor to the Rev was the Bolster (my edc). I also own the Arc, Wave, Skeletool, and sidekick. I will typically bring the Wave when I visit my parents or in-laws to fix various things around the house.
I personally prefer the lighter duty multitools. I've not really had much need for scissors, and I prefer spring loaded. It's just personal preference. My Bolster gets used (maybe abused) and lost quite often. Fortunately I've had it returned to me every time I've forgotten it somewhere.
I also think it's a great price for entry into discovering the value of leathermans. If memory serves me correctly, I believe I paid $27.99 during a Costco flash sale five years ago. For more heavy duty, specialized tasks, I have other tools so it hasn't been an issue for me. Just my 2¢

No, that was online with free shipping. Those were the days.
yep, it sold out quick, but it was one of those just hit buy and don't think deals. I still use that more than any other leatherman i have due to the range of tools but still very compact size.
At 30 this is still a great deal if you need a leatherman, but its not a great deal if you already have 5 (not going to name names lol)

My $17 WorkPro or whatever from amazon is a vastly better tool than my Leatherman Wingman, which is the same base tool as this rev.
That said I just picked up a Victorinox MX Clip and it's a clearly superior tool in terms of quality. At the ~$110 price it's been at recently it's a good value step up from these cheaper tools.
