Free Shipping hits at +$99
Spent a lot of time adding a few smaller items only to bail on the cart after a $12 shipping charge killed the deal.
I got a postcard in the mail about this sale. I needed a Torrentshell jacket for a trip next week. Card indicated sale started on 1/16. Torrentshell was $179 on 1/14. I checked again and it was $106 on 1/15 (I bought it then). Checked on 1/16 and it was $125 and they were out of the size and color I got on 1/15. Just a note for anyone following these sales that you may get a better deal the day before.
So…good ?

Sweaters and jackets, Patagonia is the best, hands down. I've replaced my nano-puff hoodie like 3 times at their Soho locations with no issues at all. Some of their bags are great too!

I would say it's personal to each person. This is politically activist company.

Aside from playing politics Patagonia has been accused of greenwashing by downplaying its environmental impact. Some employees have felt that Patagonia's new direction threatens the company's mission and values. Patagonia has been accused of having unsafe working conditions, excessive working hours, and inadequate wages for its employees.
totally understand this but everything is relative and for the most part, patagonia is walking the walk. They sell to people who care about this stuff, they say they have all these values so of course they're heavily scrutinized.
If they were any other overpriced clothing brand, they could just fly under the radar no one would give a shit what their values were.

They may have started off with a "Do No Evil" business mindset when the company was founded, just like Google. But Patagonia has undergone a corporate change in strategy. We've seen this happen to the Blue Cross Blue Shield health plans a couple decades ago and most recently at Reddit. Patagonia is now just like any other profit driven company. Patagonia cynically use ESG for marketing fodder without truly committing. Look at Facebook. They recently fired all their DEI staff. Ended partnerships with "fact checkers", and removed the tampon dispensers from men's restrooms. It shows that Facebook's polices on DEI were just virtue signalling, not a deeply held value. Patagonia will eventually"evolve" and drop the ESG polices they currently struggle to adhere to when they no longer see any marketing value in them.

Looks ike their down jacket is the same "fill" as Cotopaxi's with the biggest difference being that Cotopaxi's are more colorful. Truly feels like an apples to apple type of affair going on in many regards looking at their styles

This is not the slightest bit believable. No sources, citations, or facts back up any of these claims.

A MAGA troll using AI to bash a company that strives to make good in the world is not what this world needs. These deals are pretty good for high quality clothing that Patagonia will repair for free.

The prices on these things have gone up so much over the years it is hard to find value even at half off. Chouinard is worth billions for a reason.
This exactly was was I was noticing. The prices are marked down from ridiculous to terrible. Way too overpriced, the brand ain't worth that much. This habit of marking things up to mark things down has gotten out of control. Maybe they are waiting for the rube that knows no better to buy at full price. Or at whatever this mock discount is. Pass, no value.
