Also, the poster is newish so might not know this, but "$ off" or "% off" posts aren't done here because they're not useful. It doesn't mean anything, and those offers are often deceptive.

At least one of the prices should be in the title and in the post. So it may be how the post was done, and the fact that it wasted a lot of peoples time, as much as this specific deal

I used deluxe with a home based business and also buying & selling stock.
TT Deluxe may tell you while entering info you should upgrade to Premier. Just ignore and proceed with Deluxe

This Costco offer for TurboTax Deluxe + State at $45 ($56-$11) is essentially the same as the Amazon offer in the link from last year but includes a $10 TurboTax credit (e.g. to e-file state taxes) instead of a $10 gift card.

How much you want to bet that Amazon posts its sale the day Costco's offer goes live.

Depends. For me, Costco is better because I always e-file and the $10 credit can be used towards state e-filing fees, which I would have to pay for completely with the Amazon version.
I always just mail in my state taxes 🤷🏼 ♀️

I have always done my turbotax online... why are these still being sold in stores? there is no CD-ROM drives anymore. is this actually cheaper than my entering my credit card # to file on the web?
You can buy groceries online, why do they have grocery stores anymore?

one thing that all the freetaxusa super fans don't realize. if you file multiple returns, the desktop version may work out to be cheaper. At $15 per state return, and as long as you're willing to mail in your TT state, it may be cheaper.
Yeah, TT would be cheaper if you needed >=3 state returns, but at that breakeven point, would rather not deal with the different TT versions features locking and contributing to TT lobbying funds.

Only if it's the same state, if not each additional state form is 40 or 45 dollars.
I have to do multiple state returns and it does add up even if you mail it in and not e-file

Will this Deluxe support any options trading or must you buy the Premier?

Just wanted to let you know that in the desktop version, you won't need to purchase Premier. Deluxe handles all the complex things I have in my taxes.
Can it also handle the options trading deductions as well?

I think that all goes on Schedule D (capital gains and losses), so deluxe should be fine.

The local warehouse has the same price if you can't buy online.

Can anyone shed light on how freetaxusa, cash.app, etc. are free to use? How do they make money? I assume they are selling taxpayers sensitive tax information. I want to look into these but obviously am hesitant.

I purchased Turbo Tax deluxe at Costco, how do I get the license code??? I did not purchase Turbo tax using the online...went to the store and purchased it. Don't know where or how I get the license code. How frustrating! should have done the download thing
Never mind. I called Costco and they said after checking out I should have seen a supervisor who would have given me the sealed license code. The problem was I did a self check out and didn't know I had to see a floor supervisor to get the license code when I left the place.
Bring your receipt and TT redemption placard back to Costco and wait at 'merchandise pickup' or 'the cage' and someone there next to the computer will retrieve the TT cardboard w key for you and initial the receipt . Let them know what happened that you didn't pick up last time.

Don't forget that if you bought online before this sale you can request a price adjustment online for the difference. I just did and it took a day to get refunded. Super easy!

Just want to add that you can file for free using Cash App. No income limits like other free file options. The only requirement is no complicated returns (no multi-state work/live, must have lived in same state the whole year), but pretty good if all you have are W2's, self-employment income, and 1099's.

Yes. For several years now. I start with turbo and then redo on cashapp. the numbers always come up as the same. Slightly more work on non traditional income on cashapp but its doable and covers many scenarios
Same. Have happily used cashapp last few years and have bounced it against turbo and other platforms and they all come out the same. Cashapp remains free so they always get my business.
