Same price at sam's club and Costco though you get $10 in-product credit instead. Can be used towards e-file fee.
Amazon matched Costco deal for $64.99 for turbotax premium 2024 with $10 GC

Can someone clarify if Premier mentioned here (for $64.99) includes State or not, meaning, is it just Federal or Federal+State?

The title of the product doesn't say "state" (as it does for Deluxe) or anywhere in the description but the photo says "Federal + State", so I am confused.

Use the link found on first page. Be aware if you go to Amazon and bring up the Turbo Tax, it will show without the gift card. I jumped on it and failed to get the gift card. Should have double checked. Once you pull the trigger with digital there's no cancelling.

If you try it lmk. I've wanted to for a few years and I'm cheap but it's $20. My guess is it has the forms but no wizard. You probably need to know to go out of your way to get the foreign tax credit or file the form 1116? if yours is large enough.
Yeah, same. For $20, it's not worth a lot of extra effort. But if it's no extra effort on my part and is only missing a bit of guidance that I don't need since I file the same forms every year, than I'd rather save the $20.

I sold a house in 2024. Which version should I get? Deluxe or Premier? Also, what kind of tax form I should be expecting? 1099?

Went to buy it and Amazon asks me to enter the CC number which they already have.
Never happened before, they just used to ask if I wanted to use the default card.
What is going on?
Happened to me too, it is looking to charge you tax based on your billing address versus where you ship that stupid amazon gift card which should be a virtual card.

The latest on DirectFile :
Direct File is a free IRS program for filing a federal tax return online. For tax year 2024, Direct File is open to eligible taxpayers in Alaska, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

To qualify, you must be a W-2 employee, receive Social Security or unemployment insurance or have an investment income of less than $1,500. You must also have a Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number and a valid state ID or passport.

You can't file with DirectFile if your 2024 wages were more than $200,000 ($160,200 if you had more than one employer) or you're married filing separately and your wages were more than $125,000

Direct File can be used to claim the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit, but not many other credits. You also can't itemize deductions or report additional income, like capital gains or money from gig work or rental properties.

Anyone with any recent experience of getting this deluxe/ premium also used as the online version? I was able to do this a couple years ago where they honored the purchase after verifying the unique code since I had completed the taxes on online version.
Last year I was able to start my taxes in the online version and then just import the file into the desktop software to complete the filing.

a few things: (not major).
1: can install on multiple pcs/devices, so can share with family members in different households (or friends)
2: your data and info isn't "stored in the cloud". its only a matter of time for it to be stolen/hijacked/ransomed/sold
3. you get the actual filing (PDFs) files - so you can store them for future or import to other programs - however, I believe you can also download your finished forms/filing from online version, just more steps/more difficult
4. CD makes good coaster or mirror after install :-) - but now they retired the media and its a direct download only.
Hopefully the new administration retires taxes and Intuit goes bankrupt for their horrible business practices.

Was charged for the $10 gift card. Amazon customer support is like talking with incompetent 7 years that cannot read. It's been a few years since I used the chat but they must've outsourced to some remote region in Africa where there isn't an education system.
Updated: I went ahead and bought it. It's as I suspected, they charged the price in two orders: One sale for the software itself (charging $10 less than the actual price you're meant to pay), and then a separate order for $10 for the gift card. Check what you paid for the software, you were probably charged the correct total for the two.

....

Did your total for the software and gift card still come out to what it was supposed to be? Looking at the page for the version I want (home & biz), it's $75.99, but if I scroll down I can see that's broken down as $65.99 for the software and $10 for the gift card. So I would be getting a free gift card because I'm still paying the sale price of $75.99, they are just breaking it down that way for whatever reason.

I've always used H&R Block to file.
Is there some reason/benefits as to why people pay almost twice as much to file with TurboTax instead of H&R?
Turbotax is a great product, especially for my needs (reporting freelance income, and for several years I lived overseas and it helped greatly in reporting foreign income - it did better with those types of income than when I hired an actual accountant to do it one year, I had to correct him repeatedly, which he looked up and verified I was right each time after years of doing it on my own with Turbotax).

I guess it's a matter of preference, you would really need to hear from people who've tried both. Even then, their experience of which is better may not apply to someone else who had different filing needs (like having freelance money or overseas income to report, perhaps one software is better in certain circumstances than the other). I would never change now, as I like how TT works and I love being able to import last year's taxes into this year's software. BUT if you like what you have with h&r block now, you might as well stick with it.

the paper forms have ALL the forms, too..
there's reasons to use the higher versions than deluxe
saving $20 to $30 to overpay your taxes is penny wise and pound foolish. but many SDrs are locked into that rather poor mindset.
if you have complicated taxes, buy up..

well not 4 licenses, but 5 fed filings total. but other than that, yes, this answer is correct.

5 feds. 1 state. can be installed on multiple devices. just not multiple state forms to be filed under single license.
We're saying the same thing. I was responding to op if he efiled. How many would be left if he shares.
