I've bought plenty of "Made in the USA" products that were junk.. just because something passes through American hands doesn't make it inherently good if some suit in an office is counting beans and ordering junk from abroad or cutting corners on labor to hit some profit goal to make shareholders happy. But emphasis on the first point, even things "made in America" usually includes "from foreign and domestic components." Any product is the sum of the parts.

Suggesting that anything metal "made in China" is the same as "made in Taiwan" is also just ignorant and uniformed. Metal products coming out of Taiwan, on average, are far superior to what comes out of China. And just because something is made in China doesn't inherently make it junk either... it ultimately depends on the standards set by the manufacturer; China is capable of higher quality, when that's a requirement placed on the factory there by the brand importing it.

There are plenty of reasons to want to buy something made in the US but you are lying to yourself if you think that aspect alone makes it a superior product in actual use. The QA involved, the tolerances, the tools and equipment used in its production... so many variables. By all means, buy Made in the USA when possible; I do. But that doesn't make it the best quality nor is anything imported inherently "junk."

No ti's not. Huge difference with Tiwain industrial standards vs Chinese and it shows even in the gearwrench made in Taiwan vs the Chinese made ones.
The early snap on ratcheting wrenches actually used kdtools/"gearwrench mfg ratcheting mechanisms.
I have plenty of strap on, SK, and various other us produced tools.
The Tiwain produced gearwrench tools for what I've paid for them have been outstanding in twenty plus years of daily use.

The issue with these is they have no reverse, so they are flat instead of angled. Makes it difficult to use most of the time.

Right once you've used the angled ones with reverse, you have no need for these ever....

Flex is nice for some things, and a pain in the ass for others. You really need both types... and several others.

Yea, I'll prob pass due to them being flat and not angled. However, they did do well in Project Farm video.

yup not a big fan. I have their 10-pc metric set and it's not being used ever since I got the reversible Icon standard and stubby sets

Not even remotely accurate. Check out Project Farm on Youtube for deep dives on reviews. Torque Test Channel is also great.

Gearwrench does consistently well on all reviews I've ever seen...they're VERY good.

The issue with what you say is there are tests on YouTube that are using hydraulic presses to test the metal strength of these tools manufactured in different countries. They do confirm what the other poster is saying, China and Taiwan are not the same, and the American tool can definitely take more torque before breaking
