Lowest price ever according to the Camel, however, note that (as title states) this is not the Fluke outlet tester with the beeper/sound. The model with the sound is selling for close to $20, right now. Looks like Amazon is matching Home Depot's price [homedepot.com].

About this item
  • Integrated GFCI test button to verify the correct operation of GFCI equipped outlets
  • Bright LEDs for fast, easy identification of miswired outlets
  • Compact, rugged design for use at every job
  • Eliminate multiple trips back and forth by using the beeper to help identify if breaker is switched on or off

You can ignore the seemingly low review rating on Home Depot. Turns out it is only 3 reviews, 2 5-star and 1 1-star from an idiot who didn't receive it and thus dinged the product. People who rate a product based on the delivery deserve a special place in hell.

Can anyone help me to explain what is the difference between this posted tester vs a normal/conventional one? Is this only for GFCI socket? I thought the normal one can use for GFCI socket as well

When you press the GFCI button on this one, it will cause a small internal ground fault, so you can test if the GFCI is working.

Amazon link didn't work for me either the first time, after a few minutes I tried again and it worked. I think the problem is on Amazon's end.

I get that its only $2 more, but what value does the brand name offer over a random chinese one given that outlet testers are so simple electronically?

Or for that matter, one of these that provides more information (make sure to select US plug and spend $10 for free shipping):

GB is a legitimate brand. I have a couple of their tools. When you spend money on tools for working with electric you don't want to cheap out since electricity can kill, cause fires or damage whatever is powered by electric.

I was looking for a tester this morning and bought it for $8. I already have it! Tested it out and it works. It's a little bulky as you can see. But it sticks out fine enough and works. And it's Fluke! I'm happy with it.

In general I wouldn't get something like these given the nature of wanting them to be accurate every single time. I'll go with a reputable company for things like this.

I actually prefer the other format - but have the Fluke in my tool box now - the only reason I have the Fluke is because mine came with the Non Contact Voltage tester and a circuit tracer (see which breaker to flip).

The other format of plug fits anywhere ... the Fluke one is bigger/clunkier when you are trying to plug in behind a sink or what have you.

Fluke branding carries big respect and GFCI is a potentially life-saving safety feature. Hypothetically, if this device lies to me and says a gfci is good when it isn't, fluke having some liability makes me feel better than "oh yeah i got that tester from aliexpress".
