I bought one right away and it came in yesterday, I filled it up with hot liquid and let it set upside down on my counter on a paper towel to see if it leaked over night at all and it did not. I emptied it out and repeated the process with ice water this morning. This has a setting that allows venting, I guess to cool off your coffee as it sits there. If you have it in this setting it will leak, that's different than being open but it's also not closed. Not calling the reviewers liars or saying that it doesn't leak, just my testing hasn't confirmed it. I have prime, so I buy without hesitation and if it leaked I had no issues about sending it back.

update: I was unable to make it leak with hot or cold liquid. I do really like the design, I know somebody said the older version was better which I'm not doubting but this is the only one I've used. My current go to is Takeya 17, I like both designs that allow you to put some hot liquid out in the open so you can sip it like you're drinking out of a real cup without having a stream of molten hot lava liquid hit your lips directly LOL.
some reviews complain about it not being so leakproof. bummer

The updated design appears to leak from what most of the reviewers are experiencing. For me that's an absolute dealbreaker in a travel mug. I need to be able to toss this into a backpack for work without having to clean coffee up.

Yeah. Take a somewhat sleek mug and makes it bulky, plus the leaking reviews make it a pass for me.

I've used the old forge design for years as my daily go to coffee mug....works amazing! wish they didn't change the design!

The leak occurs from the lid, more precisely, from the back side underneath the button. In the fully closed position (meaning not in vent mode), pressing the button to take a sip and then releasing the button somehow traps some liquid in the lid assembly. Just (accidentally or inadvertently) tilting the travel mug backward just a little bit will release the liquid to drip down from underneath the push button. I accidentally stained my wife's white coat that way... :\

Got the 12oz and did a real world test in car day 1 today. Can confirm there are leaks - I left the lid on locked open position the entire time. But still the design seems flawed.

Going to take the lid fully off in the future to avoid drips
