Slats wouldn't even work. No support on the sides to hold them. Box spring or plywood sheets are required. 🔥 garbage

this is not a platform bed, you will need a box spring with it.

Adjustable base fit comfortably within the frame of the bed. There are 3 support bars I forwent the one closest to headboard (which is fine since the mattress isn't actually resting on the frame itself) as it looked like it might interfere with the leg of adjustable base. Otherwise everything fit perfectly. Happy with purchase for $60

Don't waste a dime or an ounce of time on this piece of trash. I don't care if you're just staging a house or using it as a child's bed. It's the Shein of furniture, possibly worse.
