Funny how you assume criticism means lack of experience. I have no problem paying for quality, I do it when it makes sense. I like Patagonia in general, but blindly overpaying for whatever they put out is just foolish. Maybe address actual criticism instead of dogpiling like a clueless fanboy. But hey, if overpaying for mediocre gear makes you feel superior, go off.
Guy at the register seemed to think you can just call in for the pricematch. YMMV

If you actually think your banana republic wool sherpa is going to last longer than a comparable Patagonia jacket, especially if you do any physical activity with it, you are so confused, it is not even worth arguing with you. I have banana Republic jackets including a wool jacket. It's a fashion brand but it's trash quality and definitely doesn't keep you very warm.
Edit: I just realized that Frozen range parka is Patagonia. Now I am really confused. What the heck are you trying to say? If you own Patagonia and know how good the quality is, what are you trying to say? Are you not planning to keep that parka for 15 + years? Would you rather it not have a lifetime warranty? You are all over the place.
Relative to other tech gear I own Patagonia is relatively inexpensive, there are many times I need something a little better or more specialized so their list pricing doesn't seem out of line for the quality and functionality. I have some Arc'teryx stuff and the quality doesn't seem much better for 2x the price.
I don't necessarily seek out Patagonia gear, just their pieces I have fit a need and have outlasted other gear and tend to get a heavy rotation because they fit a need well.
I am all about deals and have tried a gamut of various brands. There are some super budget pieces I am very proud of like the famous Wrangler ATG pants but most of the inexpensive outdoors brands Ive bought have failed prematurely. I've had Columbia pants and shirts lose their stitching after a few washes and Eddie Bauer fleeces last less than a season. Ive spent more money chasing bargains and deals than just buying the right piece initially. I subscribe to the buy once, cry once philosophy when it comes to tech gear that serves a need.
I did have one duffel tear after a few years of heavy use and sent it in a for $15 to cover shipping or so they sewed in a whole new panel. To be fair, it's probably a lighter duty bag than what I use it for and it should probably be replaced with a Black Hole or equivalent from another manufacturer.
There's been a trend in traditionally good tech gear brands getting purchased by investment firms who market to the tech fashion crowd and tank the quality while diluting their brand reputation to maximize short term profit. Some companies like North Face have separate lines for urban fashion and technical gear. I haven't seen Patagonia do this yet so it's a relatively safe buy, if I buy something I know it will hold up to some heavy use.
