I was able to get:
$700 trade in for IPhone 14 pro max
$200 Best Buy gift card ( goes down to $80 if you pick 512GB)
So: $1299 - $700 - $200 = $399.

I'm thinking about upgrading my S22 to an S25+ and pre-registered at Samsung, but there are no compelling deals there. Best Buy may have the most compelling offer, with an enhanced trade-in value of $400 for my S22 (only when upgrading to the S25+) and $100 BB GC (only when selecting 256 GB model). Add 4% CB and I'm somewhere in the mid-$400's before sales tax, and I think that's the best I'm gonna be able to do anywhere. Is it a better enough device for that money? Eh...
