If you think I'm joking, check your own current paid ISP plan's terms of service. Non-trivial probability they're already doing similar to you, at least if you're not protected by something like the EU's GDPR.
Is that what's going on here, or is their business model different somehow?
Anyways...So they will pay you in their crypto token., Which they then accept as payment.Or you can sell yourself. Im assuming they are going to expand on this somehow.
Also a while back they were talking about another app that carriers were going to opt into that allows people to use each others phones a a hotspot for a small fee.
Just a guess but maybe something with this as well.
They are not the only company going this way there are going to be some announcements very soon of others going this path

You can check what everyone else charges for a 3GB/month plan (probably anywhere from $10-$30/month), and that is the value you are receiving.
p.s I used to have 500 talk minutes twenty years ago...lol
your ID info stays on the server essentially indefinitely
until you cancel your service.

It's like if someone offered you a car for free as long as you only drove it less than 3000 miles per year, and then if you went over, had to pay $750 per extra 1000 miles, and also checked the GPS of the car. But, you then say you need to drive it 20,000 miles per year and think you are getting nothing for nothing because you can get a free car from your company and drive it with unlimited miles.
I signed up for the eSIM option on my backup phone, an unlocked Moto G Power 2024 from StraightTalk.
On battery saving mode, phone/Helium app only uses ~10% a day. Hence, the battery will last at a little more than a week.
Not bad for a free plan.
Maybe, go check out the new $24.88 199GB plan at MobileX… www.mymobilex.c
GV also has requirements (must use once every few months) as does Helium (must share location--I think all other cell services are trackable through triangulation from cell towers). Not sure what else they require or if they will in the future have other requirements.
I wouldn't say that conditions prevent something from being considered "free," e.g., a "free" BOGO pizza may require you to buy one first. That doesn't disqualify it in most people's eyes from being called getting a "free" pizza (though you'd qualify that by saying it's BOGO). I think almost everything on SD that is "free" will have some conditions (like signing up for an account, fulfilling some paperwork, sending in forms, etc.)
I am using it as an e-SIM so I can switch between it and another cheap, low talk/data Sim (Tello) on my phone until I am confident Helium is reliable. Since I am almost always around wi-fi (home or car hotspot) and rarely make voice calls, the 3GB/100min/300txt plan is more than enough for rare occasions I am out and away from wi-fi. I can always switch back to another service if not.
