Has HP fixed the big hinge recall/class action issue yet? I myself am unwilling to buy one until they at least take ownership of the problem.

very good processor for a $330 laptop. Good deal if you are not a gamer, don't need backlit KB, touchscreen, type C with displayPort or power and willing to live with a broken hinge.
8gb is not enough even for basic web browsing. more than a few tabs open and it'll struggle, so add cost to replace ram. i'd go for 2x16gb for $40.

HP 250/255 series laptops are their low-end business class machines. I have supported around 250 of these (mostly older g4-g7 models) over the past 10 years, and they're generally reliable workhorses and their design hasn't changed considerably for a long time.

That said, they're well known to have bad screens, very dim and poor viewing angles. They're a little better with their 1080p screens now, but the screen is still dim. That, along with their all-plastic bodies are how HP is able to MSRP these $200 below from their mainline ProBooks. Maybe these G10 models have improved, but I suspect they're the same old design.

Fair warning, the G10 255 does NOT have upgradable RAM slots. What you buy, is what you get.

Unfortunately, I don't think you can upgrade RAM on this board. Everything I've seen says RAM is integrated on the board.

Yeah, I made sure to do my research as I've taken apart hundreds of 250/255 series laptops, and all had replaceable RAM. I was surprised when I read these were non-replaceable, and searched for a motherboard as an example, just to be sure. Sure enough, no visible SODIMM slots, just embedded RAM.

The 255 G10 appears to be unique to the 250/255 series in this regard.

Thanks, corrected the listing and returned the laptop. Not a deal after all.

This laptop has 2 two SODIMM slots. In the "HP Maintenance & Service Guide PDF" look at page 2 "Product Description":
Models with 7520U, 7320U processors
Onboard memory supporting up to 16 GB of RAM (not accessible or upgradeable)
LPDDR5-5500, single channel support
Models with 7730U, 7530U, 7330U processors
Two SODIMM slots supporting up to 16 GB of RAM
DDR4-3200 dual channel support
This laptop has 7530U. I bought the laptop and upgraded the ram using the two SODIMM slots.

Mr. Banana, perhaps you need to yet again cross out the text proclaiming the RAM as not upgradable?

First hand testimony here debunking that!

And, HP Maintenance and Service Guide explains this model has two SIMM slots for RAM.
