Wow. People still do this?
Great for things like "save the date" or address changes; you can easily spend $1 each on paper announcements like these. Of course, there are cheaper options.

Does anyone know how these are made? I assume CVS makes a 4x6 print and the magnet is covered with adhesive, much like the old business-card magnets that Staples used to sell (still might but too hard to find on staples.com).

[edit: found the business card size at Staples.com $14.69 for 50, item #470690. What I did in the past was get my business card copied onto coloured paper. Just sticking a business card on was (a) too thick, and (b) too boring. Does CVS do something similar with a 4x6?]

Thanks.

Not worth it, literally just a 4x6 print on a magnet. I had to go back when I realized it was just the print. They put it on the magnet all crooked and then left adhesive on the front of the print. I had to trim it and it looked awful.

I've used business card sized to make fridge magnets years ago (print shop had some paper with swirly colours, I copied/laser printed the business card onto that then laminated, and stuck the result on the magnet. Looked much better than just sticking on a business card.

Anyway, based on the description above, would it be better to just buy a 4x6 print and 4x6 magnets, and do it myself? I can be careful.

A quick search shows Amazon (no political comments please) has a 10-pack for $6.64 with S&S (ASIN B0D46QPLXT ). I don't have Amazon Prime but haven't checked WalMart, eBay, etc.

Would that work? Looking at the workload a CVS or Walgreens Photo employee goes through, I'm not surprised if they're a bit sloppy, and I can be careful.

Thanks.

Does anyone know how thick these CVS magnets are? I can't find it on their site.

I found packs of magnets running about 67c@ (e.g. 15/$10) on Walmart.com and eBay.com the cheapest ones seem to be 12mil thick, but others are 20mil and even 60mil. At 67c plus 32c (say) for a print, I can make my own for $1 and they'll be as good as I'm willing to make the effort.

Any thoughts? Other than buying 10-15 at a time, I don't see a downside to DIY.
