the closest microcenter bundle in price is $370 for:
* AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
* Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX v2
* G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB DDR5-6000 Kit

Which doesn't come with an SSD, but has a better board and processor

LOL. I love this disclaimer:

Newegg.com cannot guarantee the compatibility of Combo items. Please contact the manufacturer(s) directly if you have issues or concerns regarding compatibility.

So they just cobble something together, put a price on it, but take no responsibilty on whether or not they''ll work together.

Link price is $382.99, but when you add it to cart it knocks $8 off. Just an FYI for those interested.

I can attest to these bundles and the disclaimer. Did one of the microcenter bundles with gskill and an Asus board and couldn't get EXPO to work. Contacted Asus and they told me they couldn't help because the ram wasn't on the QVL.

Not a single xmp/expo ram kit is ever guaranteed to work at anything other than Intel/AMDs "normal" stock speed. Even then, if it's not on qvl list.... I just don't understand why this is a surprise lol

Looking to upgrade my 15 year old hardware. Would this be a better package vs the 7800x3d Mobo combo, and using the savings on a higher end GPU?

If it means even 150-200 more towards GPU you'd certainly be happier with this. Decent storage included as well. I'm not sure that I would want to buy a good GPU right this moment before 9070 is released to assess

Would this do a decent job playing Fortnite/roblox/minecraft for my sons? If I'd upgrade/add-on a standalone graphics card in 6-12 months, would any of these components be too limiting?

It's not going to play anything without a GPU.

Thanks. It's been probably 15 years since I've built a computer. I saw that video ports on the motherboard and assumed that it had onboard graphics.

It has onboard graphics to display output but it's not playing any games outside of minesweeper.

Would an RTX 4070 be compatible with this board? Curious if there's something that would throttle the GPU to not perform at it's rated peak performance.

~$70 more than a similar deal that hit in November. Seems to be about the current going bundle rate. MoBo is bottom tier for the B650 line, but mine hasn't had any issues. Just wish it had a tad more headers.https://slickdeals.net/f/17910078-amd-ryzen-5-7600x-gigabyte-b650m-gaming-plus-wifi-matx-board-32gb-ddr5-6400-mhz-ram-free-1tb-nvme-for-304-newegg?src=SDSearchv3&attrsrc=Thread%3AExpired%3ATrue%7CSearch%3AType%3Anormal%7CSearch%3ASort%3Arelevance%7CSearch%3AHideExpired%3Afalse&peid=7b0133df-b818-45a4-b3a3-5bf3e9718b43
I'm glad to see a similar mobo + CPU + RAM combo from Newegg too soon, but considering the components are exactly the same aside from the RAM it's hard to justify spending an extra $70 more on this deal than the old one (I mean, that's about 20% more expensive).

Seeing how quickly the price on the November deal went up, I'm led to believe that $304 price was a mistake.

Plus, this deal has the same motherboard as the other one, which people seemed to report had issues. But I have a feeling that like you said, it would probably be fine.

Considering the 7700X bundle at Micro Center is currently $370 (historical low is $350), I'd be tempted to go for that over this (and skip the free M.2).

Unfortunately, it looks like it'll be a while before the Santa Clara Micro Center opens (this is from 1/24/2025):

https://www.reddit.com/r/Microcen...r_creeper/

If this Newegg deal were $300 again I'd be tempted.

I just got a B580 GPU, and am looking to upgrade from an i7-7700K. Still haven't seen a deal that really strikes me. Even the 7700X bundle at Micro Center was $350 a year ago; feels weird paying more now for tech that'll be a year older.
