For anyone debating trying out scooters, *for this price* this deal is pretty hot. Solid review from well-known YTers back when it launched almost 2 years ago -

https://youtu.be/dGY9PZrbxUE?si=ae4hnQp-tP2aJt6F

Discount the part at the end of the video where they talk about the competition. This scooter is 2 years old in design, and even in the 2nd half of 2024, a lot of new competition has matched or bettered the Segway. At higher price points than this sale, these days there are other options like:

- the Okai Neon Ultra es40. Awesome machine for $200 more than this sale price. Whether the extra money is worth it depends on each individual's needs and usage.
- Apollo Go. Costs almost twice the price of this Segway sale, so probably not worth it for most. BUT the Go crushes hills, is loaded with the latest tech, and is damn good on its own merits.
- Vmax vx4 rides all day comfortably, and the vx2 Pro is only $100 more than the Segway
- and of course have to mention Voro motors lineup, and in particular the Emove Cruiser S (and since if you wanna splurge hard, the Cruiser v2). Long-range kings, great bang-for-the-buck, and highly customizable while still being damn good stock out the box.

Again, for the $600 though, the Segway is great even if I'd probably spend the extra 2 bills to buy the Okai es40 (in blue for better visibility to other people).

Last thing: if you're gonna ride over ~10mph, wear a helmet! Death by scooter is a silly way to go, and easily minimized with head protection.

Can confirm that EGS (electric scooter guide) is great. When I was researching buying a scooter, I went to them for all my reviews.

Weight limit on the website says 265lbs. How bad would this perform for a 285lb man? Asking for a friend!
Just make sure the tire pressure is correct. IMO (and this is a guess!) it should be fine but you might struggle a tad with hills. I have the G30LP (the previous version of this scooter) that I got from an insane price mistake a few years ago and it's great but even at 190lbs, it struggles on hills and barely makes them up for me.

I do, but I never leave mine outside. I ride it to work and back, leave it in the employee area. When I stop by grocery stores, I bring it inside and park.
Yeah i ride mine different one in San Francisco. You never leave them outside. They're small enough to bring inside with you.

These are crap. The internal charger dies in a few months and mine is stuck in drive mode. Segway offers zero support.

Segway has one of the worst customer service ever.

I have bought several electric scooters from them including service plans and they always have an excuse to not honor them. Avoid them at all cost.

I am 220 lbs and need to makes it up a 20% grade (...I know) Will this get my a$$ up there or do I need to look for dual motor?
It's called a kick scooter for a reason. Use your legs to go up hills. It saves a lot of battery power

A couple of years ago, this would've been an instant buy at $600. Ended up getting a refurbished Ninebot G30LP for $375, and it's been great—but I rarely use it. Mostly for grocery runs a mile away with a huge backpack, but not enough use to to justify spending more for the extra shocks.

Not necessarily. This can be ridden without kicking too. It has 0 start………….

I assume this is sarcasm but realistically you can't kick these electric scooters that have battery on the bottom of the deck because it is too high. With the weight and resistance you won't be able to kick this anywhere uphill.

I purchased the same scooter from the same seller (R3NEW) on eBay for $499. However, it arrived in terrible condition despite the seller listing it as "used – very good." The indicator light button was missing, and the scooter had significant scratches all over its body.
I chose not to return the scooter because the seller provided a replacement indicator button and issued a $45 refund to compensate for the poor condition.

damn. very tempted to get this but my g30p is going strong at 2k miles
This is me too. I keep being tempted to upgrade, but it's hard to justify spending the money given how rocksolid the old one seems to be going.

I ride two people on it pretty often and it works just fine. About 350 total. Definitely more sluggish but no issues
Well, don't do two people. Great way to hurt yourself and others.

But as someone working down towards 285lbs currently, it seems to do ok with my big booty.

I live in SF, so lots of hill testing. It won't do the promised 22% grade with me (obviously) but it's still very useful for established bike paths. It will handle 10-14% grade just fine, although at the top end of that we're going down to 7mph.

I was looking for a reasonably priced commuter scooter for a big guy and this is where I landed last month. Not a lot of experience but I've been happy with it!

And the regen brake is excellent in the city!

thing with g30p is it's very fixable because there are nothing like suspension. If you don't need it; other than the battery; the repair is much easier on the g30p. sold out by amazon.

I own a NIU KQi3 Pro and the only thing it's missing is suspension which its mandatory for California's Swiss cheese roads/pavements.
