If someone walk by your camera and trigger the motion detection, when a real thief walk by within 5 mins and steal your package outside your door, you won't get any notification about that since it is within the 5-min cool down. And you don't get any AI detection features neither. And it won't trigger any motion recording because of the 5-min cool down.
Neither TP-Link Tapo cam nor Eufy cam have this issue without subscription.
I can tell you that the cool down is an absolute MUST have
I had the free trials of the paid service without the cool down before and I bead tearing my hair out and was so glad when it ended.
Thee cameras false trigger every second of the day so without the cool down you will have to just disable notifications completely or you won't even be able to die your phone at all because it will just keep making notification sound literally even 0.5 seconds.
If you adjust the sensitivity you won't be getting anything.
I keep mine at like 50-60%
The worst thing is that the exclusion zone does F all it completely just ignores the exclusion zone and still detects people outside of the zone no matter what
Yes, they have had a security breach a few times, and I know at one point people were seeing other people's cameras, but from my understanding that was a wildly tiny number of users - but still, it happened, which is scary for some. Personally, if someone saw a few minutes of my back porch stream with no context as to who I was or where I lived, it wouldn't be the end of the world, but I understand.
These have solid night-vision, are wildly cheap, and if you use the SD slot, it's all local. I even have a camera that I only plug in to do fun timelapses such as building projects. For 15 bucks, this is a fun option. I've also heard these are popular in the 3D printing world for print timelapses - a hobby I hope to try out someday.
But here is the real kicker. Years ago, they offered a Cam Plus Lite or whatever they called it. If you opted in at that point, you are grandfathered in, so all new cams can also access it. I've been loving that option. With all my cameras on SD cards, I pay no recurring subscriptions for their services with complete package and people recognition, etc. I know Im lucky, but there are use cases for this being a great option. (I do pay monthly for some other services I deem worth it from Wyze).
I have 3 cameras constantly running, a doorbell, their sprinkler controller, a mounted LED strip that I use for a TV backlight, and a security system for all my ground floor doors and windows. That security system alone is worth it for us and every time an alarm trips, it's an instant text/call from the company. So personally, it works for us.
I bought the Cam Plus Lite subscription for $0 that ends in 2069??, so always a good idea to keep a couple of these as backup
I have read about all the security concerns and would NEVER have this camera inside my house. But for outside and general security they are great.
The $99 unlimited cam plan is actually a good deal (I have like 15 cameras in unfinished basement, garage, outside, doorbell) and it's a good value.
Not the system for everyone.

I am interested in your explanation because I have been using 4 of the Wyze Cam v2 with a sd card in each of them. So far so good.
I have several v2 cams and they all work with Show, but 7 of the v3 I had and returned never worked.

Saving footage is also an absolute mess. Their cameras can only record events unless you have an SD card on a compatible 24/7 camera. And those event recordings are worthless. They stop after 3 minutes regardless of motion. And they don't pre-record any motion. For example, when the mail man comes, it will start recording when he is basically at your doorstep.
"You can upgrade to the homebase 3 and store up to months of footage for free with a hard drive". Have you ever tried to go back and save your footage? You cannot pull video directly from the hard drive. They use proprietary software that forces you to plug in a USB drive for you to download footage. The catch? You can't select specific times. You can only select the day. Which means you have to wait hours or DAYS for the files to finish copying. Oh, and did I mention that while you are saving the footage, your cameras that are connected to the homebase cannot record or save anything during that time? Imagine waiting an entire weekend like I did only to be greeting with a "USB error" at the end.
Eufy is terrible because there in 0 incentive for them to improve their app or their software. They aren't making money on subscriptions and they are too focused on launching other products.
I invested almost $600 on eufy cameras because of Slickdeals, and I regret it every day.

All connected to 2.4ghz wifi 5, on it's own guest VLan. That way it doesn't touch any of the computers on the network. Three Asus routers in mesh mode. I also have 8 wyze outdoor plugs, 2 wyze indoor plugs, sprinkler and the wyze door cam, all work fine and don't drop. The v3s have the cheap Microcenter microSD cards, both 64gb and 128gb. Only had about four microSD cards fail in three years. No drops, no fees, no complaints.
Doesn't matter how fast your Internet speeds are, I've got 300 Mbps fiber, if you don't have proper wireless coverage, you're going to suffer.
