I'll wait until there's a Steam one available.
The pacing is a slow burn at the start. The movement can feel clunky. Some aspects of it are tedious and feel designed just to slow you down. But it's still the best game ever created, in my opinion. The world is incredibly well-realized, and there's just so much attention to detail.
While a great price and a great game, the $14.99 frontpage deal is for a Steam key. AFAIK, $14.99 remains the lowest price for a Steam key for this game, to the extent that matters for buyers.

I loved it and played through it twice. I did enjoy the overall experience of God of war 2018 more, maybe due to open world burn out. RDR2 is still an excellent game of course.

I'd buy this game at full retail price every other year for the opportunity to play it over and over again. The greatest modern crime against gaming is that Rockstar didn't invest in developing the unfinished areas of the game for later release. If you couldn't tell, I love this title and for this price it's a bargain.

I started the game about a week ago and am experiencing these exact things. It hasn't picked up quite yet and I was wondering if this is how the whole game was.
In some ways yes, in some ways no. The control clunkiness will always be a part of things, and the game pretty specifically wants you to play it a specific way. Oftentimes, that means doing it slowly. For instance, the camp interactions add a lot of characterization but may also feel tedious. The story definitely picks up in the 2nd half. I specifically start by hunting to do the camp and satchel upgrades. One of the camp upgrades unlocks limited fast travel. The satchel upgrades make it so you don't need to run errands all the time to drop things off. I also usually do a couple of treasure hunts early to get money. If you're on PC, there are save games that start after chapter 1, as well as have all the camp/satchel upgrades, if you prefer not to grind. The tough thing is, I can't guarantee the game will click for you. I suspect that it will, but there's no guarantee. I do think the game is magical if/when it does.

I'd agree with the advice that the end of chapter 2 is a good jumping off point if you're not enjoying it.

Bought it at release, have tried so many times to get into it but I finally gave up last month. I was a little into chapter 3. Everyone says it's the greatest game ever made and I kept waiting for it to click but it never did.

Maybe it's because I don't have the time I used to (have since procreated…) but I'm just over the gameplay loop. Ride, follow, cut scene, shooting gallery over and over. To be fair I never bothered with the hunting, side missions, etc….so maybe that's where it all comes together.

Frustrating because as everyone says the game is gorgeous and a marvel to behold. And I always thought I was on the cusp of "getting it" but I never found myself itching to play it.

I'm sure I'll relent and give it another go but for now it's out of rotation. For this price, sure give it a try.

Great game but really old game at this point. After you finish the game (or before that if you are lazy) don't forget to go back and do the unlimited money hack. Super fun buying any weapon or horse you want and exploring the open world. Oh and don't forget to lasso people and hang them from the railway tracks above the canyon, lol.

In simple terms, It's boring. I'm trying to slog through hoping it gets better, but after a couple hours, I'm losing hope.

I have a Microsoft Surface laptop. It's i5-1235U, 2500 Mhz, 10 Core, 16gb RAM. Can I play this game on it? I don't know anything about this stuff, but I remember many years ago playing RDR at my friends house and couldn't put the controller down. I'm 50 and think this would be fun to try on my PC as I don't have a PS. Also, do I need to pay for other things to do this? I saw something about an app launcher. Yeah, I'm old.

Epic runs fine if Linux. I just finished mass effect Andromeda on epic, using lutris and pop os.
While you can get it to run, its not because Epic wants you to. I will continue to only buy games from stores that back Linux gaming. Linux gaming would not be where it is without Valve and the Steam platform. I want my money supporting that direction instead of a continued Microsoft monopoly that includes their spyware of an operating system.

i played it with a mx250 gpu, i think you have iris xe which is better then the mx250. It will work, youd just be playing with reduced graphics
you dont need to pay for anything else, just download epic games and rockstar, both are free (i personally use a controller as well, so that would be 10-15$)

I'd not played RDR, but saw RDR2 on sale on my wishlist for $15 on Steam awhile back. I'd heard enough good about it and had read that you should play RDR2 first, so I did (talking PC here). I basically came in blind. It's a really good story. As others have said, the controls are a little clunky, but I didn't accidently rob anyone or anything. My most common frustration was being required to move at a snail's pace in the camp at about equal frustration to the weapons seeming to be "random" for missions and not always having the guns that I would like to have. Though I think towards the end of my playthrough I figured out that I could modify that at my bed.
Overall, I really enjoyed it. The epilogue was a little meh for me, however. I'm glad that the pace of the epilogue was fairly brisk. My Steam library is FULL of games that I got to 40 hours in and lost interest. And that's perfectly fine by me as that feels like good value in most cases given how slow I play games. I put something north of 100 hours into this by the time I hit the epilogue, but I thought I had played maybe 40 hours at the point that I checked playtime and saw I'd sunk 100 in. I was just running around hunting and leading the New Yorker back to Strawberry like 15 times. I didn't understand that I was going to progress most of the entire game within the map, so I explored the whole map and all of the cities well before I advanced the story. I might have had 40 hours in before I finished chapter 2. So... money was never an issue for me. I think I'd bought every gun, fully upgraded camp, and lots of customization and still had $6-15k most of the time. The crafting for camp feels a little strange/clunky... I did very little of that.
It's worth playing... I'd argue that it's still worth $60 if it clicks for you. Somehow managed to be repetitive without feeling repetitive. I could see playing through it again someday. I'm a sucker for single player games.
