This is Book #2 in the Red Rising series. I've been hooked on this series for a few years now. An extremely good read that pulls you in and doesn't let go. The author takes risks that I have not seen before.

The series is split into two trilogies and both are amazing. The first trilogy is easier to digest while the second trilogy introduces a ton of new characters. Once you expand your scope for the second trilogy, you realize the massive brilliance of Pierce Brown.

Violence, love, adventure, friendship, terraformed planets- this series is one I recommend to everyone who loves action, adventure, or sci-fi.

The first book's story is fun but it's definitely the worst-written book of the series. He gets immensely better as a writer after the first book.

I feel otherwise. First is too Hunger Games-y, but the author said he did it on purpose to increase the likelihood of it being published. His gamble worked, then he was able to write what he really wanted. The first was so trope-y.

Just finished the whole series and they're freaking amazing. Once he introduces the new characters and really branches out, it gets so good.
