Dual band. No 6 GHz. 🤮
95% won't need either. I rather have a high performing dual band router than the many problematic triple band ones.
This is supported by ASUS Merlin custom firmware:

Not supported by OpenWRT at this time.

pulled the trigger on this one. Not sure if the performance gains will justify the difference in price vs. the 86u pro, but feels nice not having to worry about a router for a long time.

In for one!

This is the best dual-band router out there. Yeah, no 6GHz, but 2.4GHz and 5GHz are great and benefit from Wi-Fi 7. Better than RT-BE92U, if you don't need 6GHz.

Thank you!

That is obvious. But the Asus ET9 AiMesh that's on sale for $349 has a nice tri-band 6E. The cover range is nice too. Prefer that for $50 more. Don't need 7 band for my use.

we are at a point where routers with specialized firmware cost two to three times their PC equivalent. these prices need to come down.

This is the cheapest router with an SFP+ port. Bought it to see if it'll let me bypass an ATT fiber gateway, although FAQs say unlikely

Based on my research 4 years or so ago, you'll need to have the ATT authenticate and then pass on the traffic using a managed switch. It's been a while.

Had att for a bit and was considering a Ubiquiti UDM pro for the SFP. Have you considered a media converter or plug straight into the router with SFP gpon MAC stick? I've only slightly delved into 8311 on discord

Very efficient way to state that you can read a spec sheet and not understand what the specs mean.

Everyone can benefit from full duplex capability. good luck with that 6ghz band.

2.6ghz quad core CPU. I believe this is one of the few routers that can encrypt/decrypt Wireguard traffic fast enough to saturate a full gigabit by itself.

Entirely different audience. This one has 10 ports between LAN and WAN, six of which are 2.5gbe or higher.
