Anyone else have insight on how well these actually fit as rear-facing in a normal sized vehicle? Friend had a similar model with two kids, and having a rear-facing one behind the driver seat in anything but a Tahoe/Yukon was practically a no go if the driver was over 5'4".
Just a heads up these are different models. Slim fit LX model is actually slimmer whereas "slim fit". The LX model retails around $260 and is on sale for around $200 elsewhere. This seems to be a price mistake.
Edit: Nevermind I made a mistake I believe the slimfit3 lx is the model that is actually slimmer and more expensive. These slim fit models aren't actually slimmer or more compact. The slimfit3 lx is one of the most compact seats you can get

I got a slimfit3 and that's the one you want. This one is much bigger and bulkier. Don't be fooled by the name. I got mine from kidsy open box, new condition just a few months ago for $175.
Target is having clearance in store. I bought $200 car seat for $99.
I came to mention Target as well. I just picked up 2 of the Graco 4ever DLX for my wife's car and my truck. Retail is 279.99. It was listed for 195 00 but when I scanned it was cheaper. I got both for 280, 140 each!
I have both. My kids are on the smaller end of the weight/height charts so Extend2Fit wasn't necessary. We had purchased it for our son (first child) and he turned out to be of average height and his younger twin sisters are below average so we purchased the slimfit model for them instead. No point in the extend2fit features since it won't apply to them. If your kiddos are bigger/taller than average, then you should consider it, otherwise the slimfit models will be just fine. Side by side, you can't even tell them apart except for some design features within the cup holders.
Since they're both priced the same, consider the space in your vehicle as a major point. Extend2fit is much wider than the slimfit model (27" vs 19" if my memory serves me right).

I ended up going with an Extend2Fit since it can rear face up to 50-lbs. It sounds like it is recommended to rear face as long as possible.
