I'm usually up on this stuff, but not in this case. What would an Ethernet to USB-C adapter like this generally be used for?

Some laptops have no ethernet port is one reason I use one.

We all know Apple doesn't add the port so if we have a bigger 15-16 inch laptop it's good having straight connection, I always turn off the WiFi and run wired. I don't have this one, mine is the UNI Ethernet port.

I have this adapter and it works fine and without issue. Also have some other ugreen stuff and so far I have never had a problem with their branded items. IMO they are one of the more trusted brands available on Amazon.

When Anker was new I thought it was low quality. I no longer think that. I do have a bunch of Ugreen products and I'd say they are on par with Anker.

For beginners.
1. There is no stable 2.5gb NIC in the market.
2. There is no good compatibility 2.5gb NIC in the market.
Buy 1gb if you don't have 2.5gb internet or don't need 2.5gb LAN.

Yes, that's why I have never used tons of old items in my bag for emergency. Those items are still BOXED. I don't even remember where they are.

Is this for like you have a newer laptop that has no Ethernet port but you brought an Ethernet cable to a hotel suite and wanted to use that instead of free Wi-Fi?

I have 2 of these. Ugreen has the updated realtek chip. Solid. Of note is that while these work out of the box without drivers, you need to updated realtek drivers for full 2.5Gbit, as tested with iperf3. I may get another one at this price, Really useful for most laptops that have 1 Gbit ethernet. Of course that requires a 2.5Gbit wired network. If you dont have one, then you dont need the 2.5Gbit one.
