The 40v batteries from greenworks are terrible. All 3 of my 40v batteries no longer hold a charge after only 3 years of occasional use.

All 3 of mine were 2ah. Kept indoors around 70 degrees. The 4ah ones likely are better
So I realize now I've been storing them in the basement corner which is closer to low 60s much of the time. I am reading that ideal storage temperature for batteries is very close to that according to uschemicalstorage. I don't mow with them anymore so I rarely drain them to zero.

From what I've read, fully charging or draining them reduces their lifespan. A higher capacity battery will be easier to keep in a partially charged range. They should be stored at around 40% charge.

Anyone have experience with this 12" trimmer? Is it better than the 18V 10" Ryobi trimmer? I have the 40V Greenworks mower, and I am thinking about this trimmer if is a decent upgrade from the Ryobi. I would think going from 18V trimmer to 40V trimmer would be a decent upgrade.

Anyone have a battery based trimmer that they would recommend? This one seems to have a number of user battery issues reports
Ego makes quality tools. More expensive though.

my 80V Greenworks Snow Throw just broke. Lights turn on with battery, motor never turns on. Never again with Greenworks. Warning..

I love the smaller ones that are really lightweight. Much better on my back
Right? I've got an 80V Kobalt almost-pro trimmer with a strap that's almost too much to haul around. I've got Greenworks 40V batteries, a lawnmower and a blower already, otherwise I might have jumped on this. Seems like a good deal.

This is a great deal, especially with the 40V battery. Best tool deal I've seen so far today.
It's only a 2Ah battery. Having a Ryobi 40v kit (4Ah battery) like this, but brushless and more efficient, you need another battery preferably 4Ah+. This 2Ah battery just isn't going to get many jobs done short of a townhouse / condo with minimal edging and just a porch / driveway to blow off.

There are generic brand batteries 6Ah going for the $60 range. I would take a chance with that and you may have a decent setup for $117 + tax

This isn't Ryobi. I have the Greenworks 40V 4Ah that came with their 14" chainsaw and have no problem picking up a 2 Ah as backup. The 2 Ah should get you a solid 15 minutes of trim time.and usually most blowing tasks don't take that long.

They cancelled my order because they ran out of stock. I would have purchased earlier but they kept resetting the price to what it would be without the coupon when I clicked the purchase button. Pretty annoying
